You'll probably be ok. Just take it seriously. Don't drive lazy because you think it won't be a challenge. You never know... There's alot of variables in a race.

GL. :)

Thank you.

It's a money race so I will take it seriously. I drive very well, I can already tell my trans hates how I shift :3d_frown:

Whats funny about all this is; I got myself into an arguement and a money race tryin to help my lil bro from being harrassed to death for having a primer body kit, being called a ricer and junkyard boxcar.

Damn, why couldn't I be an only-child :biglaugh: jp jp

I raced 2 bone stock (I think) s2000's in my mom's bone stock 06 v6 accord coupe. The accord slaughtered them I felt bad considering I thought the s2000 would be much faster. I guess they're more of a handling car.

Put Redline MT in that trans if you've got a grind every once in a while or if it just doesn't seem to shift like it should.

Not everyone can drive well. S2000s are mid/low 14 sec cars but a new v6 accord is probably around that area too. sooooo... You never know what happens when you race.

S2000s were not made to be straight line cars though, that much is true.

It grinds when I'm smashing gears. I shift very fast. I used to own a mustang, it liked to be beat on. The trans didn't mind it much except 3rd gear. With the supra, seems like most gears hate my shifting and 3rd really hates it, lol.

So, I want to be at about 11-12psi on this race, but all I have is the stock boost guage. how am I gonna be able to tell? It only goes to 8psi iirc...

Oh, this is the most important question!!! What should be my shift points?

Also, I have friends with dsm's. Every time I see them race, when they are ready to launch, I hear them play with the throttle at a high rpm. Idk if thats what it is, or if they are bouncing it off the limiter. So what should I launch at on slicks? Street tires? and whats the fastest way to create boost?

Sorry, but the turbo world is new to me.

0 - 1/4 mile 14.8 seconds

Normally factory specified times are also overestimated for almost every car I'd say...

If it doesn't have a turbo on there, you shoudln't have a problem wiping his ass. :naughty:

Check some vids on streetfire or youtube, bone stock ones go mid 14's. All this one has is a single exhaust conversion and I think it might also have drag radials, but i'm not 100% sure on that.

This one is an AP1 though.

Yeh well on that note look at a BMI (Best Motoring) ep where a stock Turbo-A runs 14.5 in the wet... I think if the S2000 isn't turbo'd he's safe.. and if they want to roll... just brake boost and fire off like a jet.

Buy a cheap boost controller, tee it into the stock boost sensor's vacuum line (it's by the drivers side strut tower, it'll say something like boost sensor on the sticker), and run it inside your car and hook it to the boost gauge and leave it in your ashtray or something for now until you have a final mounting place for it later. Use that to see how much boost you are running.

Well, looks like I won't be racing this weekend. It's taking 935 forever to send my junk. I bought the performance budget gasket kit with the head studs and Cometic gasket. He said he was out of the gasket kit and would send one as soon as he gets one....

Lame...

Bench racing FTL...

Here's an update

It rained last weekend.

Now the kid is REALLY talking shit.

HE wants to roll race, 40-140

I'm not gonna race to 140, thats plain retarted and dangerous on the small highways we have here in Toledo.

40 roll good though? Sounds good.

I WILL have a video on this, I record all my races.

Also, nobody has answered this yet
What should be my shift points?
How do I launch this car?

Thanks

i took on a SS Camaro on north 101 going 150,

DONT BE A PUSSY!

lol jk no pressure.

go 150!!

but uh.. the two questions you asked on how you launch and shift, is something that you yourself have to find out and learn yourself. no one can "Tell" you how to do it, because everyone is different

Well, I drove the piss outta my mustang. This is my 1st real turbo car. NA is easy, rev it to the moon and side step the clutch (on slicks). NA shifting, run it to redline.
As for turbo cars, is it the same? I know my buddies talon he has to get it to spool somehow, idk.. It's like he builds RPMS before launching instead of just cramming the gas pedal to the limiter.

i usually shift around 5500

How do I launch this car?

you're doing it from a roll.. but when i want to take off from 40, i just dump it into second and stomp it.

But i have a 5spd 89 Turbo with 3.73 LSD. So depending on your rear end, i dont know if 2nd gear from 40mph would be the best thing for your car.

Stay in a gear that will have your RPMS really high, as close to the rev limit as possible with about 1000-1500 RPMs to spare.

BRAKE BOOST is what you need to learn to do. It's just as it sounds, ride your brake some and gas it to stay at the same speed (for you, 40 MPH), remember, start in high RPMs for the quickest spool possible (most likely 2nd gear). The brakes will put load on the turbo and allow it to spool some, giving you an edge when you let of the brake and punch the throttle simultaniously (sp?).
