I recently upgraded to the T-Mobile G1 phone running the new Android software (a linux based OS that is open source)

Now, one might ask... "WTF does this have to do with my Supra?" Well, the G1 has a built in accelerometer (sp?) and software downloads out the wazzoo! One such application is "Tricorder"... designed by some trekie, but never the less, it GRAPHS the readings from the accelerometer! Have you ever tweaked something and gone out for a test drive only to find yourself saying "I THINK it helped..." I can now tweak and see exactly how much it helps without going to a Dyno! I think I should even be able to calculate HP with a little math.

If you own a G1, you've GOTA download "Tricorder" or "Pocket Seismograph" (although the second of the two I've been unable to locate, but as I understand, it does the same thing, only better)

When you use Tricorder, be sure to switch your Acceleration window from Absolute mode to Relative mode by touching the Vector area of your screen. You can also change the scale of the graph.

If you find another prog out there that does anything like this, please let me know.

Moved to Off-Topic...

This is not Supra related anymore than your testicles are Supra related...

Honestly I wouldn't trust the dyno capabilities of your phone too far. No knowledge of this particular phone, I'm just sayin..............

Some people have reported some fairly accurate results with the iPhone dyno. It's nothing I would trust, but it might give you some ballpark accurate numbers.

Well I picked up a G1 today. Picked it over a I-phone. At least it does not need to be hacked to utilize all the software avaialble for free. I think they are also releasing a SW update to enable video which is nice.
By the way, Im, faily noob to this G1...only made 1 call and its charging up.I will download the sw today later on.. :)
Thanks,
Moe

First off... sorry about droppin this thread in the wrong section. My Bad. (blushing)
Second, I realize that it's not real accurate and I am in NO way sugesting this method is as good as a Dyno and it DOES have several drawbacks...

It doesn't RECORD data... the graph shows about 10 sec of data, if you don't look down at your phone while the data is still there, then you have nothing...

I'm not seeing any actual NUMBERS that can be used... if the graph gets half way between the first and second line, how many G's is that?

I decided to get the G1 after seeing a demo of "Pocket Seismograph", but by the time my G1 came in the mail, Pocket Seismograph had been pulled from the market. Rumor has it that the developer will re-release it on www.handago.com... I've yet to find it. I've downloaded the SDK for Android in hopes of developing an application a bit more suited for our needs, but I've not done any programming in YEARS. We will see if I can figure it out.
