Anyone else run into this problem? I bought a LIPP relocation bracket but it does not line up with the bolt holes on the alternator. It's off by 1/4 or more (too small) and I don't think there's enough material to cut the holes so it could be used.

Just curious if anyone else has found this, I didn't see any posts on it. Also, mine was sent with a 65" belt, the correct belt would be 46-47"

Thanks,
Brian

Hey Brian,
Didin't I suggest you buy the Beech Performance relocation bracket? Man, that's a bummer the bracket doesnt fit your alternator. I've never heard of the LIPP bracket not working with a stock alternator. They didn't send you the right bracket kit? That's all I can think happened. Van

Is this the one you're asking about or is it a drop down bracket?

I have this one and my alternator didn't fit but mines a jdm digidash model so maybe had a bigger one had to get a smaller alternator to use it

Why suggest a different one? With the complaints I have read regarding (SS)customoer service? Because quality of product being poor from them has to be rare. The things I have bought that they(LIPP) made have been first rate quality.

That's the one I'm trying to use Fredester, the bolt holes are ~3/16 to close together. Thought it might be enought material to bore out and get the lower piece to line up but it would be awfully thin to make that work. Maybe they had a bad casting run?

I'm going to try something else, should've thought to check it up front when the belt was incorrect too.

I should've listened :) Don't worry, I'm taking your advice on some of the other stuff I'll be using.

which belt do you use with that bracket. how much do these cost. i like that thing .maybe ill just make one.

Can't remember the belt size. It would be different when using the ATI damper instead of the OEM damper for the same set up.
Supra Sport sells the the cast alum. for $85, Wes Beech sells the billet alum. for $90.

I used the beech bracket and it seemed like it would work with an OEM alternator. However, it didnt quite fit the MR2 alternator.

I think the key point here is that there is a little adjustability in the OEM mounting setup to adjust for different size alternators.

Brian,
I went out Sunday, looked at the ALT, it's a Bosch ALT. It fits the Beech Performance bracket well and the stock Supra plug and wire go right in to the socket and pole.
As for the right sized belt: I too used a length of string to get a measurement. Van

My alternator is a Denso it says toyota on it so i am assuming it's the factory one since i have never replaced it. unfortunately i haven't received any word from supra sport, which has been a problem i have had with them before and it's starting to make me mad with there customer support.

The problem is the 87-88 supras got one size of alternator from the factory and the 89+ got a different size.

This is not really noticable with the factory brackets as the upper and lower are independent upon each other, so you are going to need the newer style alternator.
It is what it is and there is no guarantee that any supra for sure has one vs the other because of the stock interchangeability.

I used to do tech support for SS, and now the only time that anyone is in the office to answer calls is on tuesdays.

(I am in no way affiliated with SupraSport, outside of being friends with the people that own and run it.)

Well thanks alot for the info i guess i will try and find another alternator to at least try and mock up before purchasing. it is a little bit of a bummer that it wasn't posted on the product page to at least notify a customer that this could pose a problem. but like i said thank you for the response
