you could borrow my ecu but i dont think its 89+ if i'm not mistaken dont the later ones have a gray colored plug in?
acetmi said:Ok so the head can be pulled off without a machine. That's what I wanted to know. I was trying to lift it the other day and it just wouldn't budge, so I'm guessing something somewhere's still connected.
Thanks for the info.

Apexa said:any word on an ECU yet?
i can come swing by tomarrow to borrow it if that's still cool...
Celica Supra said:hmm..... did you remove all the studs? That is all that holdin the head to the block.unless you head is melted on to you block........:aigo:
acetmi said:Yep, removed all the studs. I just remembered I haven't removed the fuel rail/connectors to it, and I haven't deattached the place where the thermostat housing attaches to the head. Plus I'll have to look at the front where all the belts are -- I just slipped out the Timing belt from the cam gears, but everything else is in place. I'll just go through the pictorial list of dylan's teardown faq; I'm sure I'm missing something somewhere. It shouldn't be a problem, otherwise I'll put a post here again
Btw, I'm gonna replace all radiator/heater hoses. I looked at the prices for the Goodyear ones, it's probably gonna cost $100+ total for all hoses...any other alternatives? Local suppliers that are cheaper, yet at least as good as Toyota?
Also, I need to replace the oil hoses to/from oil cooler, and maybe the PS high pressure line. Any good and cheap supplier in MN? And if so, if you remember the part/size of hose (what you ordered), that'd be helpful too.
Thanks.

Celica Supra said:Damnit! ahah oh well it good! ASk away! Ask JZA71 for most of your question because that where me and my unlce ask. HE help us with this. Which Mk3 are you going to swap this to?
supra87t/t4 said:It's going in a maroon 89NA with a targa top and sport package. I bought the car with no engine, so I've been looking for something to swap in. I am going to do a 2JZGE with the W58 and if everything goes well I'll probably do a 2JZ on my red 92 eventually.
The engine is from a 95 SC300. The transmission comes with it, so no wories there. I'm pretty sure the oil pan is the right one. I'm just not sure about the motor mounts. I have an 89+ subframe, but do I need different (1JZ?) mounts?
Celica Supra said:I think you will need the brackets. And aren't SC front sump oil pan?
supra87t/t4 said:I hope it's not a front sump, guess I'll find out on monday. I though only the LS and some of the JDM stuff was front sump. I'm a 2jz noob obviously
Apexa said:Celica supra any update on the ECU i could come borrow it whenever

thanks!
Celica Supra said:got the ecu... give me shout!:biglaugh:
Apexa said:thanks.. but we had to order one due to me having to goto florida.. and it turns out its not the ECU either..
so we're thinking its a wiring problem somewhere.. which is the only possible thing we can think of
ever component has been tested, theres no air leaks anywhere. everything is connected right. the ECU we put in HAS been tested. so... we're just confused.
we've pretty much been through the engine more times we can count and still nothing...
so if you have any other ideas we can try before going through the wiring
please help
