.018 @ the recommendation of henry @ AEM..

So... how do I fix it? What hardware changes should I make? I've got a 300zx TT ignitor laying around. Can I somehow go to COP using this ignitor? I've also got a stack of 300zx TT coil packs laying around.

The problem is that the AEM uses the stock ignitor and that means that it is using the same bit logic like stock TCCS does which i have not seen used outside of the Supra 7m.

So you would need to replace the ignitor with another stock one unfort :(

With that said. Have you tried opening the gap to see if the "wall" happens earlier?

What is the condition of you other secondary ignition components mainly wires? Try doing a little swapnosis..

gixxer, coil packs are grounded? Ignitor grounds secure? Engine grounded properly?

CPS is properly aligned?

I'm sure you'd installed other 7M maps? Even ones that have the "stumble" ?

AEM is such a great standalone!

I've used maps with the stumble, and mine still doesn't have the stumble. (racerX)

Plug wires are accel 300+ custom fits modded for a 7m. They have about 350 miles on them.

Plugs are brand new of course. I've wanted to come up with a set of stock wires and put my coil packs back on the valve covers temporarily... I just haven't done it yet. I don't know if that is an influencing factor or not.

I haven't tried that yet, as my battery is in the rear seat location. Would running a ground to the 2 gauge ground wire on the block have the same effect? I still want to try a set of stock plug wires and putting my coil packs back on the cam covers. I'm interested to see if this may help.

On a side note, I seemed to have fixed the oil smoke problem that was created by running a pretty fair amount rich. I ran the car down the interstate a while @ 16.5:1 and set it up for 13ish to 1 below ~4 psi... I'm not going to run like this permantly, I'm just hoping it'll help reseat the rings some(which seems to be working)
