^^ science, is trying to figure out why these people lived this long, if you think about it, we are starting to strech into the triple digit ages, time in reverse? in the 1200s u lived to be 30 max, now, 80 isnt old anymore.
i think its because we are slowly mixing the DNA back to almost super human.
take a dog for example, a mut who has many different breeds in him/her, is less likely to become, ill. pure breed dogs are more likely to become ill or even die.

AFAIK, the most widely accepted reason is the ever improving medical care and hygiene as well as less famine. just think of childbed fever and the like... many diseases which used to be uncurable are not posing a threat anymore, at least not in "developed countries".

aaronc222: really interesting stuff, thanks for sharing!

BTW we are way off topic here :biglaugh:

But medicine isnt the only thing tho, i do relize that this maybe, but if you take someone that was total healthy all their life from 200 years ago and someone who was totaly healthy in todays terms, the person from now will live longer.

exactly, back in those days people didnt know how to treat pork meat. therfore it killed allot of people, wonder why some stopped eating it??? cus they thought it was evil and just there to kill you. we dont leave our wounds open and untreated. we dont drain the blood from our bodies when we are sick anymore. there is also a better understanding of germs and how they are created and how they affect us. run arround outside in the cold wearing a loin cloth and drinking water out of a sewage line and start hunting for your bears with a spear and im pretty sure you wont make it to 30 years of age.

The following things might be disturbing for some people…
Shit, it was rather disturbing for me.
If you have any questions, if you wanna know more details about something, feel free to ask and I will try my best to help.

The Holocaust

  • The proceedings against the Jews in Germany happened in 4 stages

  • Stage 1: 1933 – August 1935
    • This stage was mainly directed against the economical existence of the Jews
    • It started April 1, 1933 with the boycott of Jewish shops and offices
    • April 7, 1933 ‘The Law of the Restoration of the Civil Service’ was announced… basically officials needed proof that they were Arians, if they had no proof they were fired
    • Another law from April 25, 1933 limited admissions of Jews to German schools and universities
    • Parallel to the persecution of Jews in 1934 started the persecution of mentally disabled people… Nazis passed a law allowing for forced sterilization of those found by a Hereditary Health Court to have genetic defects
    • In September 1933 Jews were prohibited to own land
    • On November 24, 1933 the ‘Law against Habitual and Dangerous Criminals’ was announced, which allowed beggars, the homeless, alcoholics and the unemployed to be sent to concentration camps
    • Homosexuals were also ‘not human’ and endangered the German race
      • I read that story once, but I really am not sure if that is true… it said that men had to go through a test to prove that they were heterosexual
      • They had to sleep with a prostitute in front of Nazi officials… if they failed that test, they were sent to a concentration camp
    • Another way of discrimination happened through newspapers, especially through the newspaper ‘Der Stürmer’ published by the fanatic Julius Streicher
    • In this paper he demanded to take away all the civil rights from the Jews among other things
    • In May 1934 Jews were no longer allowed to have national health insurance
    • In May 21, 1935 a law was announced that expelled Jews from military service
    • On June 26, 1935 Nazis passed a law allowing forced abortions on women to prevent them from passing on hereditary diseases

  • Stage 2: September 1935 – October 1938
    • Political rights of the Jews were restricted
    • At the rally in 1935 Hitler planned to deliver a major foreign policy speech concerning the League of Nations and Fascist Italy… however this speech was cancelled on short notice
    • Radical anti-Semites suggested to Hitler that the special session would be an ideal opportunity to announce some kind of big new law concerning the Jews
    • On September 15, 1935 the so called Nuremberg Laws were announced by Hermann Göring
      • Reich Citizenship Law of September 15, 1935
      • I. 1. A subject of the State is a person who belongs to the protective union of the German Reich, and who therefore has particular obligations towards the Reich. 2. The status of subject is acquired in accordance with the provisions of the Reich and State Law of Citizenship
      • II. 1. A citizen of the Reich is that subject only who is of German or kindred blood and who, through his conduct, shows that he is both desirous and fit to serve the German people and Reich faithfully
      • Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honor, September 15, 1935
      • I. 1. Marriages between Jews and citizens of German or kindred blood are forbidden. Marriages concluded in defiance of this law are void, even if, for the purpose of evading this law, they were concluded abroad´. 2. Proceedings for annulment may be initiated only by the Public Prosecutor.
      • II. Sexual relations outside marriage between Jews and nationals of German of kindred blood are forbidden
      • III. Jews will not be permitted to employ female citizens of German or kindred blood under 45 years of age as domestic servants
      • IV. 1. Jews are forbidden to display the Reich and national flag or the national colors. 2. On the other hand they are permitted to display the Jewish colors. The exercise of this right is protected by the State
      • V. 1. A person who acts contrary to the prohibition of Section I will be punished with hard labour. 2. A person who acts contrary to the prohibition of Section II will be punished with imprisonment or with hard labour. 3. A person who acts contrary to the provisions of Sections III or IV will be punished with imprisonment up to a year and with a fine, or with one of these penalties
      • VI. The Reich Minister of the Interior in agreement with the Deputy Führer and the Reich Minister of Justice will issue the legal and administrative regulations required for the enforcement and supplementing of this law
    • The Nuremberg laws heated a debate as to how one should define a Jew
      • 2 months later a supplemental Nazi decree was issued which defined a "full Jew" as a person with at least three Jewish grandparents
      • Those with fewer than three grandparents were designated as Mischlinge (half-breeds), of which there were two degrees: First Degree Mischlinge - a person with two Jewish grandparents; Second Degree Mischlinge - a person with one Jewish grandparent
    • In January 1937 Jews were banned from many professional occupations including teaching Germans, and from being accountants or dentists. They were also denied tax reductions and child allowances
    • By the end of April 1938 all Jews were forced to register wealth and property, in June a so called ‘Kennkarte’ (Identity card) was introduced and in August they were forced to add extra first names like Sarah or Israel onto all legal documents and passports
    • Also their passports were marked with a big red ‘J’, eventually in November 1938 Jewish children were not allowed to visit German schools any longer

  • Stage 3: November 1938 – December/ January 1941/ 1942
    • The third stage marked the completion of the economical, political and social discrimination
    • ‘The Night of Broken Glass’ (November 9/ 10, 1938)
      • On November 7, 1938 the German-Polish Jew Hershel Grynszpan committed a radical act of violence to draw the world’s attention to the plight of the Jews
      • On this very morning he walked into a Paris gun shop and purchased a 6.35-caliber revolver… he loaded the weapon and drove to the German embassy
      • He finally ended up in the office of 29-year-old Secretary of Legation, Ernst vom Rath, who was the most junior embassy official on duty that morning
      • When vom Rath seated Hershel and asked to see a document, he responded: “You're a filthy Kraut and in the name of the twelve-thousand persecuted Jews, here is the document!”… he took out his gun and shot vom Rath
      • Hershel never left the building, he just waited to be arrested
      • Vom Rath died 2 days later on September 9
      • Upon first hearing of the shooting, Hitler had sent his own personal physician to Paris to aid vom Rath
      • Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels, meanwhile, instantly recognized the shooting as a golden opportunity... for him the shooting in Paris was a chance to incite the German people to “rise in bloody vengeance against the Jews”
      • Upon being told of vom Rath's death, an angry looking Hitler took Goebbels aside and conferred privately for several minutes, finally telling Goebbels the SA should have a "fling" at the expense of the Jews
      • In fact, the popular uprising Hitler and Goebbels hoped to ignite never materialized…
      • In the night of November 9 most civilians either pulled down their window shades and stayed inside or stood silently on the sidewalk along with the regular German police and watched as SA, SS men and Hitler Youth, accompanied by miscellaneous street punks, broke into Jewish homes, beat up and murdered Jewish men and terrorized Jewish women and children
      • All over Germany and Austria that evening, Jewish shops and department stores had their windows smashed and contents wrecked
      p110606_1.jpg
      • Hundreds of synagogues went up in flames while fire fighters stood by watching or simply hosed down surrounding buildings to prevent the fire from spreading
      • About 25,000 Jewish men were hauled off to Dachau, Buchenwald and Sachsenhausen concentration camps where they were brutalized by SS guards and in some cases randomly chosen to be beaten to death
      • The many thousands of broken plate glass windows resulted in the term Reichskristallnacht or Night of Broken Glass to describe the events of November 9 lasting into the early morning hours of the 10
      • Regarding the economic damage from Kristallnacht and the resulting massive insurance claims, Göring declared the Jews themselves should be billed for the damage and that any insurance money payable to them should be confiscated by the government... they were fined 1 billion Reichsmark
      • As for Herschel Grynszpan, he eventually wound up in the clutches of the Gestapo and spent time in various Nazi prisons and concentration camps, and vanished without a trace
    • In December 1938 the first ghettos appeared… Jews had no more businesses, they were kicked out of their apartments without reason or notice
    • Since the beginning of December 1938 they were not allowed to drive cars or have cars for that matter
    • After the beginning of the war on September 1, 1939 Jews were forbidden to leave their houses after 9pm (summer) and 8pm (winter)
    • 3 weeks later they were forbidden to have radios or telephone
    • Since July 1940 Jews in Berlin were only allowed to do grocery shopping between 4 and 5pm
    • In October 1939 Euthanasia began… the ‘mercy killing’ of the sick and disabled
      • Code named “Aktion T4” the Nazi euthanasia program to eliminate "life unworthy of life" at first focused on newborns and very young children
      • Midwives and doctors were required to register children up to age three who showed symptoms of mental retardation, physical deformity, or other symptoms
      • A decision on whether to allow the child to live was then made by three medical experts solely on the basis of a questionnaire, without any examination or reading any medical records
      • Three plus symbols on that questionnaire resulted in euthanasia being issued and the transfer of the child to a 'Children's Specialty Department' for death by injection or gradual starvation
      • The Nazi euthanasia program quickly expanded to include older disabled children and adults
      • Patients had to be reported if they suffered from:
      • schizophrenia, epilepsy, senile disorders, therapy resistant paralysis and syphilitic diseases, retardation, encephalitis, Huntington's chorea and other neurological conditions, also those who had been continuously in institutions for at least 5 years, or were criminally insane, or did not posses German citizenship or were not of German or related blood, including Jews, Negroes, and Gypsies
      • A total of six killing centers were established including the well known psychiatric clinic at Hadamar… people were gassed and then burned
      p110606_2.jpg
      • Families were told their beloved ones died cos of heart failures or pneumonia
      • On August 23 “Aktion T4” was suspended cos the huge increase of the death rate among disabled aroused suspicion
      • However, the Nazi euthanasia program quietly continued without the gassings
      • Drugs and starvation were used instead and doctors were encouraged to decide in favor of death whenever euthanasia was being considered
    • In April 1940 the Lodz Ghetto in occupied Poland was sealed off from the outside world with 230,000 Jews locked inside
    • In November 1940 the Warsaw Ghetto containing over 400,000 Jews was sealed off
    • January 1941 quote from “Der Stürmer”
      • “Now judgment has begun and it will reach its conclusion only when knowledge of the Jews has been erased from the earth.”
    • In 1941 the yellow ‘Judenstern’ became a duty for everyone 6 years of age and older, people who did not wear it and got caught were deported to concentration camps
    • In March 1941 German Jews were ordered into forced labour
    p110606_3.jpg
    • In October 1941 Jews were not allowed to leave Germany any longer (250,000 Jews already left, about 200,000 were still in Germany)…
    • Between March and December 1941 about 200,000 Jews were killed, many more put into ghettos all over Europe

  • Stage 4: January 1942 – May 1945
    • Mass killings of Jews using Zyklon B began at Auschwitz-Birkenau in Bunker I (the red farmhouse) with the bodies being buried in mass graves in a nearby meadow
    • January 20, 1942 ‘Wannsee Conference’
      • The ‘Final Solution’ (Endlösung)
      • “Europe would be combed of Jews from east to west…”
      • “Instead of emigration, there is now a further possible solution to which the Führer has already signified his consent - namely deportation to the east”… referring to mass deportations from ghettos into death camps
      • “...eliminated by natural causes”… referring to death by a combination of hard labour and starvation
      • “...treated accordingly”… referring to execution by SS firing squads or death by gassing… also known as ‘special treatment’ or ‘special actions’
    • On March 18 the New York Times reported on an inside page that Nazis have machine-gunned over 100,000 Jews in the Baltic states, 100,000 in Poland and twice as many in western Russia
    • June 1, 1942 Jews in France, Holland, Belgium, Croatia, Slovakia, Romania ordered to wear yellow stars
    • June 30, 1942 At Auschwitz, a second gas chamber, Bunker II (the white farmhouse), was made operational at Birkenau due to the number of Jews arriving
      • I once watched something on TV, it was about the concentration camps and how the Nazis were trying to figure out what gas would be the best and the fastest
      • So they were trying this new gas Zyklon B and it worked like a charm…
      • The pellets would vaporize in the ‘showers’, giving off a noticeable bitter almond odour. Upon being breathed in, the vapours combined with red blood cells, depriving the human body of vital oxygen, causing unconsciousness, and then death through oxygen starvation
      • But this one time, the guards heard a noise afterwards… stunned and scared they didn’t know what to do
      • Eventually one guy walked into the gas chamber to see what was responsible for that noise… turns out that on top of the hundreds of dead bodies there was a baby crying
      • It survived the gas chamber
      • But it was Jewish
      • So that guard took his gun and shot the baby
      • The guards working there that day were asking for another job the next day, they didn’t wanna have anything to do with the gas chamber anymore
    • July 7, 1942 Himmler granted permission for sterilization experiments at Auschwitz
    • September 18, 1942 Reduction of food rations for Jews in Germany
    • December 28, 1942 Sterilization experiments on women at Birkenau began
    • In 1943 the number of Jews killed by the Nazis passes 1 million
    • In March, April and June newly built gas chambers opened in Auschwitz… all in all they have a daily capacity of 4700 bodies
    • In May Dr. Josef Mengele arrived at Auschwitz
      • Of particular interest to Mengele were twins, beginning in 1943, twins were selected and placed in special barracks
      p110612_1.jpg
      • Almost all of Mengele's experiments were of dubious scientific value
      • Including attempts to change eye color by injecting chemicals into children's eyes, various amputations and other brutal surgeries without using an anaesthetic, transfusions of blood from one to another, isolation endurance. The doctors made injections with lethal germs, sex change operations, removal of organs and limbs
      • And in at least one case attempting to create artificial "Siamese twins" by sewing the veins in two twins together; this operation was not successful and only caused the hands of the children to become badly infected
      • Experiments on men, women and children included:
      • High altitude experiments
        • In early 1942 prisoners at Dachau concentration camp were tortured so the Nazi Air Force (Luftwaffe) could find out the capacity of the human body to endure and survive high altitude
        • A low-pressure chamber was used where conditions at altitudes of up to 68,000 feet could be duplicated. Victims of the experiments were forced to suffer these simulated altitudes within the chamber
        • Many suffered death or serious injury as well as severe pain
      • Freezing experiments
        • Later in 1942 prisoners at Dachau concentration camp suffered experiments so the Luftwaffe could learn how to treat hypothermia
        • One set of experiments forced victims (mostly soviet war prisoners) to endure a tank of ice water, sometimes for as long as 3 hours. Victims rapidly developed extreme rigor. Unsurprisingly many of these unfortunate victims died
        • Nazi experimenters assessed different ways of rewarming survivors
        • Other prisoners at Dachau concentration camp were forced to remain naked in the open for several hours with temperatures below freezing
      • Malaria experiments
        • From about February 1942 to about April 1945 experiments were conducted at the Dachau concentration camp in order to investigate immunization for and treatment of malaria
        • Healthy concentration-camp inmates were infected by mosquitoes or by injections of extracts of the mucous glands of mosquitoes. After having contracted malaria the subjects were treated with various drugs to test their relative efficacy
        • Over 1,000 involuntary subjects were used in these experiments. Many of the victims died and others suffered severe pain and permanent disability
      • LOST (mustard) gas experiments
        • At various times between September 1939 and April 1945 experiments were conducted at Sachsenhausen, Natzweiler, and other concentration camps for the benefit of the German Armed Forces (Wehrmacht) to investigate the most effective treatment of wounds caused by LOST gas, a poison commonly known as mustard gas
        • Wounds were deliberately inflicted on the subjects who were infected with LOST. Some of the subjects died as a result of these experiments and others suffered intense pain and injury
      • Bone, muscle, and nerve regeneration and bone transplantation experiments
        • From about September 1942 to about December 1943 experiments were conducted at the Ravensbrück concentration camp, for the benefit of the German Armed Forces, to study bone, muscle, and nerve regeneration, and bone transplantation from one person to another
        • Sections of bones, muscles, and nerves were removed from the subjects. As a result of these operations, many victims suffered intense agony, mutilation, and permanent disability
      • Sea water experiments
        • From about July 1944 to about September 1944 experiments were conducted at the Dachau concentration camp, for the benefit of the German Air Force and Navy, to study various methods of making sea water drinkable
        • Some of the subjects were deprived of all food and given only chemically processed sea water. Such experiments caused great pain and suffering and likely resulted in serious bodily injury to the victims
      • Sterilization experiments
        • From about March 1941 to about January 1945 sterilization experiments were conducted at the Auschwitz and Ravensbrück concentration camps, and other places
        • The purpose of these experiments was to develop a method of sterilization which would be suitable for sterilizing millions of people with a minimum of time and effort
        • These experiments were conducted by means of X-ray, surgery, and various drugs
        • Thousands of victims were sterilized and thereby suffered great mental and physical anguish. (Aside from its experimentation, the Nazi government sterilized around 400,000 individuals as part of its compulsory sterilization program)
      • Typhus experiments
        • From about December 1941 to about February 1945 experiments were conducted at the Buchenwald and Natzweiler, to investigate the effectiveness of spotted fever and other vaccines
        • At Buchenwald numerous healthy inmates were deliberately infected with typhus in order to keep the virus alive; over 90 percent of the victims died as a result
        • Experiments with yellow fever, smallpox, typhus, Para typhus A and B, cholera, and diphtheria were also conducted
      • Experiments with poison
        • In or about December 1943, and in or about October 1944, experiments were conducted at the Buchenwald to investigate the effect of various poisons upon human beings
        • The poisons were secretly administered to experimental subjects in their food
        • The victims died as a result of the poison or were killed immediately in order to permit autopsies
        • In or about September 1944 experimental subjects were shot with poison bullets and suffered torture and death
      • Incendiary bomb experiments
        • From about November 1943 to about January 1944 experiments were conducted at Buchenwald to test the effect of various pharmaceutical preparations on phosphorus burns
        • These burns were inflicted on experimental subjects with phosphorus matter taken from incendiary bombs, and caused severe pain, suffering, and serious bodily injury
      • Ghettos were liquidated, hundreds of thousands of Jews from all over Europe deported to Auschwitz for the final solution… mass murders happened everywhere
      p110612_2.jpg
      p110612_3.jpg
      p110612_4.jpg
      • November 1943 quote from ‘Der Stürmer’
        • “It is actually true that the Jews have, so to speak, disappeared from Europe and that the Jewish 'Reservoir of the East' from which the Jewish pestilence has for centuries beset the peoples of Europe has ceased to exist. But the Führer of the German people at the beginning of the war prophesied what has now come to pass.”
      • December 1943 the chief surgeon at Auschwitz reports that 106 castration operations have been performed
      • May 1944 Himmler's agents secretly propose to the western Allies to trade Jews for trucks, other commodities or money
      • June 1944 A Red Cross delegation visits Theresienstadt after the Nazis have carefully prepared the camp and the Jewish inmates, resulting in a favourable report
      • June 12, 1944 Rosenberg orders the kidnapping of 40,000 Polish children aged ten to fourteen for slave labour in the Reich
      p110612_5.jpg
      p110612_6.jpg
      • Summer 1944 Auschwitz-Birkenau records its highest-ever daily number of persons gassed and burned at just over 9,000. Six huge pits are used to burn bodies, as the number exceeds the capacity of the crematories
      • July 24, 1944 Soviet troops liberate first concentration camp
      • October 28, 1944 last transport of Jews to Auschwitz, 2 days later last use of gas chamber in Auschwitz
      • November 1944 Nazis force 25,000 Jews to walk over 100 miles in rain and snow from Budapest to the Austrian border, followed by a second forced march of 50,000 persons… the so called death marches had begun
      • Late 1944 Oskar Schindler saves 1200 Jews by moving them from Plaszow labor camp to his hometown of Brunnlitz
      • January 27, 1945 Soviet troops liberate Auschwitz… by this time an estimated 2,000,000 people had been murdered there… 1,500,000 Jews
      • April 10, 1945 Aillies liberate Buchenwald, 3 weeks later Dachau
        • When the Allies liberated the concentration camps they asked Germans around those camps why they didn’t do anything about it, why they didn’t help etc.
        • While most Germans maybe had an idea what really happened, they were also scared to death to say anything against the Nazi Regime, and a lot didn’t even know what was happening in there… this is no joke
        • Lots of concentration camps were labour camps, that is what Nazis told German people and that is what they believed… they saw the Jews arriving and figured they were just new workers… others tho were Death Camps
        p110612_7.gif
        • To show Germans what really happened Allied troops made them clean the camps… they had to bury, dig up and burn the dead bodies, feed the survivors etc… most Germans were stunned, shocked… not able to believe what they saw
      • April 30, 1945 Hitler committed suicide and was burned
      • May 8, 1945 Germany surrendered unconditionally

I aint no hitler expert but the statement (Hitler had a new idea on how to take over Germany for himself and the Nazis - play by the democratic rules and get elected) isnt all that correct seems somewhere along the line you forgot to mention that he was summoned by the Super Secret Society called the TAU and asked to infiltrate the Nazis and when he reported back that they were in disarray they asked him to go back and take over the group. At least thats whT I learned recently on a great show on the History Channel. Someone in the future is always rewriting history to suit their current needs sad but true especially when most of the time the truth was written about at the time it happened.

Geezer

might be... i got my info from my high school stuff, certain magazines about national socialism and historyplace.com among other websites and stuff I remember from shows on tv.

i never heard about a 'super secret society' named TAU tho...

after world war 1 hitler became one of many undercover agents in the german army (investigating political organizations) and was sent to a political indoctrination course.
hitler was asked to investigate the german workers party, yes... but in the end he made the decision to join and turn it into the biggest party in germany at that time.

the quote you have there is quite a while after all of that... after the beer hall putsch if i remember right and by then the NSDAP was already quite a big party.

but i dunno... i dont think anyone really knows what actually happened.

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, just wanted to let you know that I will have to take a lil break from my project here.

I got my work permit (Working Holiday Program) and will leave Germany on January 17th. Unless Immigration is gonna be an ass I'll stay in BC for 12 months.

Have to get a BC licence and also have to find a job among other things and also I won't have internet at home in BC :(
I'll still work on it, but it might take a while till there is a new update.

That's all.

Laters.

More on the subject:
Have you talked to your grandparents about their experiences, i think that would be interesting to see their childhood experiences.

hey kyle, how are you?

I'm still in Germany but leaving next Tuesday :)
Christine is still as dead as she can be as far as I know, lol. Guess she will be dead for another few months.

I haven't really talked to them about it but they said this and that every now and then when I visited them.
Also my dad told me quite a few things, especially about the firestorms that happened in Dresden, Chemnitz (my hometown) and other german cities. That's a topic that is still to come.
My family is kinda creepy to talk to sometimes, lol... especially about the whole war topic... I regret tho that I didn't talk to my dad more about it cos now he's dead :( but oh well.
For now I'm leaving Germany for a few months, might go back some time in summer and maybe I find the time to talk to my grandpa about it... actually that's a rather good idea... but as I've said they can get strange sometimes.
