Doward, that was a very ignorant comment.

From dictionary.com:

"A device that joins two systems or elements in such a way as to prevent leakage"

Seals don't have to be perfect you know. Sometimes seals are actually designed to leak slightly for various reasons.

i think the real problem on this forum rob is most of these guys have no idea who you are and for how long youve been building high performance engines, most of your 4wd runners are faster than 95% of the supras on this site and that is a fact.
although i wouldnt get all cut up about useing a xs turbo and having it crap itself, i personally wouldnt risk putting one on my ride on mower.its just not worth all the work only to be dissapointed.
was this for your lexus gs 300?

Exactly. A seal *prevents* leakage. The sealing ring in the cartridge does not prevent leakage - If the oil level in the cartridge gets high enough (from a blocked drain, for instance) then the oil will happily pour right out into the turbine side.

1. It doesn't matter who he is.
2. It does not matter that he is on this forum as opposed to any other car forum.
3. His experience with engines does not matter with the information he has given us; it is as null and void as the warranty that he let run out, and that is a fact.

It doesn't matter if it was someone that I had known and been on forums with as long as Shaeff, IJ or the admin here - wrong is wrong. Just because I know and respect someone does not mean I will side with them even though I know by the evidence they have presented that they are WRONG.

To all posters in this train wreck:

KEEP it polite!

One and only warning guys.
------------------

Looks like a case of a flooded CHRA, doesn't matter that you've run this type of turbo on another motor without issue each motor is unique this one may have slightly more blowby and this coupled with too much Oil inlet volume has flooded the labyrinth and caused the issue.

Personally I wouldn't have ran the tubo another 5 minutes after I identified a warranty issue, it would have been in a box awaiting shipment back to the supplier.

Isnt it also fact the OP contacted the vendor Before his warranty ran out about the problem? Anything after that is besides the point. If the only reason the vendor isnt honoring the warranty is because its past the 6 month period, then its bs.

I obviously dont have all the info having just read this thread lol. However, it seems based on what Ive read to be all caused by the vendor stalling. It seems the vendor got an email 2 months after the purchase about a problem, communicated back and forth to solve it on the user end. When the solution didnt happen the vendor stalled until the 6 month period ran out, then claimed no warranty.

Whos to say if the buyer emailed daily this would have turned out different? The vendor seemed to be set on stalling and not resolving anything, calling him daily wouldnt change that.

If the vendor comes out and says, the part is faulty but no warranty because of the time frame then its BS. If the vendor claims faulty install or break in or anything else, it has to be in the warranty terms as such. You cant say '6 month warranty' then add on terms after the fact as to who installs it or proper break in. Otherwise, the warranty should be honored, Im not sure how people are siding with a vendor on this based on what Ive read.

How many times to I have to tell people this.

I tried to 2 months into warranty. C'mon people, read the whole thing before you post. If you don't want to read, DON'T POST.
how about you actually read MY post; i said send it back. Not send a message and wait for months, actually send it back. Hard for them to say warranty's expired to expire when they have to sign for the UPS package.

IMO, if I knew the turbo was bad.. I would have taken it out instantly, and returned it.. If he didnt take it back, I would have crammed it up his ass.. LOL

actually i think youll find just sending back an item isnt the way to go at all, many companys actually use a return authority number and will merely refuse the item if it arrives without one, so it ends up arriveing back on your own doorstep.
He found a problem with the turbo, contacted the vendor several times and didnt get any support at all, im struggling to understand why people are sideing with the vendor?
im betting most of the vendors on this site would at least talk about any issues raised and resolve them as quickly as posible.

AGAIN, DO NOT QUESTION ME ABOUT MY KNOWLEDGE, YOU WILL GET BURNED!!!!!

Thanks

we don't have to question it, you displayed your level of knowledge perfectly by running a turbo you knew was bad, for 5000 miles, then blaming the company for selling you a broken item 6 months down the line

WOW, did you just say that? Go talk to a turbo company and tell them what you believe.

AGAIN, I tried to warranty the turbo in October. From the way he handled it, he obviosly refused to honor the warranty back in October when it was still under warranty. It just took me to now to bring it to light because I was giving him the oportunity to make it right!

I couldn't send it back, he refused my warranty complaint in October.

Don't you guys get it, HE refused my warranty claim by doing NOTHING back in October.

Yea, Ive never herd of just putting a part in the mail without an info to go with it. At that point your just blindly sending a part away.
