hmm, on a recent trip to centralia wash. for a supra meet, i got 29mpg on the freeway and i usually get 18-20mpg in town.

I see similar. My hardtop MKIV gets 19-20 mpg around town. On a long road trip (like going to the TX2K meets) it will get 27+ mpg if I leave the cruise control on and I keep my foot away from the gas pedal. :)

Rarely makes economic sense. Now 93 + meth = fun boost ;)

I'm partial to VP's C-16 for street fuel. Motor Octane: 117 - Specific gravity: .735 at 60° F

And they will deliver it in 55 gal drums right to my garage. :)

The smell of a car burning C-16...:squirt-mo

No biggy for me. I just run 89 now. 95% of the time I don't even beat on the car. 5% of the time when I do beat on it, it doesn't even exceed 4.5k rpm and I am usually in 4th or 5th gear. Thus, I don't see why I should be wasting so much money on high octane when I just cruise at 80 mph 95% of the time I am driving the supra.

Anyway, I figured this is not too great for the supra so I recently bought a 1991 MR2 NA. :naughty: It needs new fuel injectors though.

87 on an N/a like mine is perfectly fine, but If I had a turbo'd car (and I will soon) I wont run anything but premium. It just makes me feel better lol

But if you have a t61 that doesn't even spool til 4k rpms, it's kinda pointless running higher octane if you run the engine below 4k rpms.

just go buy some well running POS high gas milage honda or vw and call it good. I gutted the shit out of my vw nothing left but the dash and seats lost 300lb. get great gas milage. I drive around all week on $10.(back and forth to work 40miles each way 5 days a week+ a little around town driving for food and such) I figure the rear and pass. seats are good for another 50lb. and i took out half the tar that was 20lb alone. I'll be looking at a 1ton car in no time.

Its not even that, premium is cleaner, leaves behind fewer deposits. Better overall fuel..

If you have an engine and t61 like that, why are you using it as a DD? lol, do what the guy said and find yourself a beater honda. The hx's got like 40 mpg.

In general, but moreso on a forced induction vehicle.
How does it leave behind more then ?

Is me thinking that premium is a cleaner, more refined, more combustible fuel wrong? Do I not understand fuels correctly? lol

Premium is NOT more combustable, it's the opposite. Regular unleaded is more combustable than premium. During light throttle driving (highway driving for example) lower octane fuel will burn more completely whereas high octanes will have more unburnt fuel left behind, this is where a multiple spark helps out. It's moreso in a forced induction car becuase during light throttle driving you will be in vacuum and in really low compression (as most forced induction car's have lower compression than NA's). You raise the compression up, the fuel may burn more completely, but at the risk of preignition. This is where a higher octane helps to prevent this. You do not get added power from higher octane unless you have tuned for it.
