My car is an 89+ with a 7M crank and mine has oil squirters, I thought all turbo 7M's cam with squirters being as there their to keep the pistons cool.

On top of what Dr. J stated about the pistons, does the block have the normal turbo oil supply and return ports functioning as per stock or does it look as though they were hooked up differently?

I got a JDM block without them. At first I thought it was an NA block, but it has the oil feed and both knock sensor ports threaded from the factory.

early JDM gte blocks did not have them. How do I know this? Cause Im rebuilding one right now.:biglaugh: Another sign is that is has 2 knock sensors instead of 1. Providing someone didnt drill and tap to add one.

I tore down an 87 from a March 87 production - Oil Squirters
88 from a december 87 production oil squirters
I tore down 1 "89" block without them.. Was probaby a lie from previous owner.

I have NEVER seen one without oil squirters other than NA's.

notice I said early JDM block. Im not sure as to why but only the Early 87 maybe 88 JDM blocks didnt have them I dont know why the USDM did have them. And yes Aaron there are alot of owners on here that block the squirters, to get better oil pressure. Or just use an NA block

Someone was telling me the other day that he plugs the oil squirter holes because it doesn't do much for the engine other then rob oil volume that should be going to the bearings. I'm not sure I agree, but I'm not sure the squirters are completely necessary with good set of forged pistons. They are probably needed more with stock pistons. There are lots of very high performance engines that see extremely high cylinder temps but don't have oil squirters. Another thing I'm thinking is that the heat taken away from the pistons is heating the oil, so your oil temp would be lower without the squirters. I don't know which is worse.

It's all about detonation protection. There's a reason they continued the squirters in the 1 & 2J series motors.

And there's a reason why our 1200 + rwhp drag car maintained it's squirters as well...

They work, well.
