Well guys, I bought a 87 turbo 5spd about 9 months ago. I recently fried my piston rings. I am going to do a 7m build and I found a decent engine here on supramania. I was thinking of buying that engine for 400 and put it in my car while I build my block with forged rods, pistons, and deck the block. I would like to be able to drive my car and at the same time I am not rushed to build the engine but to take my time on it and do everything right. What do you guys think. By the way, I have all the supporting mods on my car to put me at about 400hp. Intercooler, boost controller, 60-1 trim ct26, lexus maf, 3 inch exhaust, 550cc injectors, aluminum radiator, arp head bolts, mhg, bov, hks igniter, fcd, safd, trd clutch. Things I need Fuel pump, Fuel pressure regulator, bad ass wheels.

Welcome to SM. i thnik you will be right at home here. this is a great community. are you staying 7M? you should hit up the vendors section... you may be able to save some money going through them. when you start to get things rolling start a build thread so everyone can see your progess.

hi i'm looking for 400 too i just want to know stock supra hp ?
mods i have afpr and custom lines,walbro fuel pump 12v,greedy replica bov,fully rebuild engine with felpro hg and new head bolts, new plugs,wires,stock ct but like new (no shaft play) stock ic,electric fan's...

please need some advice on these things....

fuel presure?????

head bolt torque????

timing?????
please help me................please ................please..........please
don't ignore my dumb questions

First, read this:

1) Stock horsepower/torque: 240hp/254tq
2) Never use someone else's fuel pressure setting, unless you're referring to stock fuel pressure, which is here:

3) Head bolt torque should be 72ft lbs.
4) Timing is 10* BTDC (ten degrees before top dead center)

.... go to the 7M-GTE tech section.... i promise everything is there... do some searching. start your own thread too. ya kindda jacked the OPs.

there really is not much that hasnt already been covered... take the time to look. then after that if you need advice on a specific item like this BOV vs this BOV, that is the time to ask. you have a lot of info at your finger tips. use it well

So I got my eagle rods today. I have not decided what pistons to go with yet. I want to either JE, CP, Ross, Probes or Arias. I want to do things right, but starting around 400 and up for probes shouldn't these pistons be good enough or are JE, or Cp that much better? I think I am going 20 over or 40 whichever is recommended. I have another question, If I go 9 to 1 compression with the piston, considering the block and head get milled, would a 2mm or 3mm gasket bring me down to stock or lower compression? I want to prevent detonation not promote it.

HI there. I am going on my second motor.I have a full 3' exhaust systemform the turbo back and intercooler with hard pipes and a hks blow off vavle.I have 550's and the lexus afm. I am seaching for some advise on which motor could take more abuse 7mgte or the 1jzgte?

I have 235 45 17s in the front and 245 45 17s in the rear. I do not know for sure but someone told me I have intrax springs which lowers the front. And of course tokico illumina 2's.

Honestly from the research Ive done and experiences I have had, I think the 1jz by design was meant to take more abuse. It was built with a base 280 hp and was designed after the 7mgte . The 1jz revs higher than the 7m and is not susceptible to bhg. I am going to recommend the 1jz for abuse and if you want to abuse a 7m your are going to have to rebuild it and do it right. The 7m is 21 years old and you cannot expect a 21 year old engine to hold up to abuse very well. I however am going to rebuild my 7m because I have all the supporting mods for high horsepower and am not going to start all over with a 1jz. Just my 2 cents

I got my pistons. Wiseco 20 over. Also got a walbro 255lph fuel pump. Got some clear corner lights, and a set of 18 inch wheels. They look bad ass just like I wanted.

Well the shop was taking its sweet time but finally got around to my block. I took all my parts and the block to the machine shop. He ended up giving me a list of things hes going to do to it but what I remember is he said he was going to hot tank it, bore it 40 over, ground the crank a bit, so im going over sized bearings, and get the right ra spec for the hks metal head gasket im throwing on their. I went wiseco's 40 over so having bought them with a 9-1 compression ratio, I dont know whether to go 2.0 stopper, or 3.0 bead type. I would like to lower the compression but I have heard that the stopper is the last headgasket I will buy. So should I go bead or stopper is my question. I have looked around and have not seen a 3.0 stopper.

Got my block back from the shop. I am going to start putting it together next week. He fully balanced everything. The rods, pistons, crankshaft and the price. It wasnt cheap. Now on to the head. He recommended a bucket port so that I can maximize my setup. I am going to get some schneider 264 cams. I already have the fidanza cam gears and probably just going to add some competition inner springs to my existing springs. I ll get a few pictures of the parts up soon.

Well guyz just wanted to post some pictures of the parts I have at home. The rest are at the shop. Just got a camera too so I had to take some pictures. Even sitting still the mk3 looks fast. The picture of it covered is what I see everyday when I come home from work. My computer blows nevermind. Gonna go upload from other computer.
