The bore of the block's cylinders will depend on how little you can get away with to get trued round holes. You don't want to take any more than is minimally necessary. The thickness of the gasket used depends on how much has been taken off the block and head respectively. After measuring both items, the stock cr will be attained by adding the required thickness of hg to get back to stock numbers (after squish). gl. OOps missed pg 2. Looks like you have most of it well in hand. gj.

After getting back my block from the machine shop I was looking for a performance shop to see if I could get a port and polish on my head. I found L&R performance here in socal. I let him go to work on it and after about 2 months, its finally ready. Than the other day he calls me and tells me that he has my short block assembled " (I decided to let him build it). He also tells me that the previous shop decked my block at an angle from front to back. It is lower in shorter in the front. I was like shiet. I had bought that block so that I could have a later version block with the extra ribbing for my supra. So he tells me that he can salvage the block by cutting the pistons which he really dosent want to do but thats if I want to salvage the block. I tell him that I still have my original block in the 87 supra and that I would take him that. I got home and yanked it in about 2.5 hours. I also found that my the original block was not so original since it had the extra ribbing on the side. I was like sweet. But wait that means someone swapped in another block into my car. So I took a look around and happen to look at the vin and to my surprise MA70. What the fuck. Ive been had. I thought all this time I had a factory turbo supra. I have just about every option available. I even have the super monitor. Oh yeah be careful with those machine shops. I could have maybe damage a piston had he just assembled it like that. Thanks L&R and Thanks alot IJ. You are my lifeline in this supra quest of mine.

All you need to do is redeck the blocks gasket surface!!! Don't let him cut the tops of the pistons!!!! WTF?!?! Abort!
Thanks for the input. But I think I will use the other block. He says he cant redeck the block because he cant guarantee a flat surface. Yeah I was like NOOOOO. dont cut the pistons. trash the block.

1. As he described..you'll still have problems with the timing belt wanting to fall off...he should know this

2. The fact he even considered it straight up tells me he is retarded

3. He is indeed retarded

4. Epic fail!

5. Considering dude is this dumb I'd expect he has no clue what he is talking about and your block may be perfect....get another opinion from a good shop!

As a machinist myself this just blows my mind!!!

Ok I might not be expressing myself correctly. I have 2 blocks. The one that he says was decked wrong had been assembled. I went and looked at it and could confirm that the front piston did come up more than the rear. It was minimal at most but he was concerned about the timing belt aswell. So I told him I had another block and that is the one I am going to use. I really dont think he's retarded. He WILL NOT CUT THE PISTONS. I think this is the best route as that block is already decked at an angle, no reason to try and salvage it.

damn.. how much did all this stuff cost you?

It has cost me quite a bit of money this supra project of mine. I made a post of all I spent for just about every part I have purchased. Including the car I think I am into it for about 15k now. The car cost me 3k. It is not cheap to do things the "right" way. I have been very patient though and I think that helps. All these parts have been over a year of owning it. All my friends keep asking me when they are going to see it run but I keep telling them to be patient. You can't really put a timeline on a well built 500rwhp daily driver. It won't really be a dd but I want to have that option. Turbo housings are getting coated and I need to pay the the machine shop so he'll give me back my engine. It's been ready for about 2 weeks now but I have no money to pay him. Yup that's where my suppy is at right now.

So I got my engine back yesterday. Dam she's a beauty. I put those fidanza adjustable cam gears and they really pop. I got home and said fuck it I want my car running. Since I injured my hand at work I decided to let a shop thats worked on my car before put it on. He said it should be ready soon. All I need is injectors. I just dont have a whole lot of money so im looking for some affordable ones. I am so siked. The engine looks really good.

Ok techs question. I had the guy install the engine and this is what it has. 700cc bosch injectors, afpr, fidanza cam gears, 264 regrinds, port and polish, 70mm turbo t4 setup. My question is, I told my mechanic to put in the aem standalone and to hook up the AIT, and map sensor. He told me it needed to be wired up and it would be more money so I said fuck it just put the afm and stock ecu back on and ill run it like that till I break it in. My question is can i run it like that until I get the aem and map sensor installed and tuned.
