My take on this.
1jz great for power if you want it, but you'll need an auto to use a big single or you'll wait till the next iceage for boost.
7m great street power, but doesn't pack enough power on a mid size single unless you spend money to port, raise revlimit, and add cams ect
2jz great stock right out of the box, great powerband, will take kindly to mid sized singles and still offer good lowend with blistering topend.
JZ engines solve all the problems that the 7m's had (mainly HG) which is not a huge poblem but can sprial out in to a huge one if not taken care of. Also the added head flow form JZ engines means the HP numbers we've come to expect.
2jz IS a better motor, but all the rest are GOOD motors too.
Having HAD all 3 I have the right to say this. Untill you lived and had each of these motors your say doesn't really matter because you don't know the quirks.
