60-1 on a 1jz?

60-1 is a great turbo for a 1jz... smaller the better, 1jz is not a huge displacement engine. It will make good power due to flow.

think of 7m... what a 60-1 will do no a 7m is a 1jz will do about 10-15% better on a 2jz I find that the same size turbo usually does 20-30% better on the then a 7m.

60-1 shoudl spool fast, but since it's probably a P trim it won't be super super much faster then your 67.

60-1 is a tad too small for a 1jzgte. Theres's at least 3 hondas around here running them on 1.8's

I bet they are running small turbines and .48 - .68 rear housings.

A 60-1 is a great sized comp wheel for the 1j, especially when paired with a O or P trim turbine.

Stock bottom end highest seen with witnesses so far is 1046whp... it didnt last the drive home tho. Rod bolts failed like the 7M's.

I love my GT40-88... and no, it's not laggy at all. I think it's a perfect street turbo for all around goodness. I average 22-28mpg and full spool at 4k. It doesn't get much better then that for a daily driver.

Don't say turbo's are laggy or don't spool good because it's a 1JZ if you don't have experence. Also, ebay turbos don't count. Of course those are going to lag.

I've heard that Mark Lowe loves his setup. He says that from 1500 - 3000 rpm it seems laggy, but once beyond 3000 rpm, it's made about 10psi and is coming alive. By the times he hits 4000 rpm, he's making full boost (20 psi) & is hauling freakin ass all the way to 6500 rpm where it falls off a bit (due to stock cams :nono: ).

Seriously, I find it to be a great mix for a street driven 1J'd car. It makes decent boost on demand when driven normally. There is some lag, but once I get above 3800ish rpm, it's a beast. I'm tracking down an electrical bug (bad ground somewhere) so that is stealing my joy, but it did lay down 426 whp with a 10.0 A/F. Once I get the grounding issues resolved I'm going to bump the A/F up to 10.8 or so. Hopefully, that will land me in the 450 whp range while still running pump gas & stock cams.....

That, to me, is perfect! 450 whp on completely stock internals & pump gas with 25 mpg too.

Yup, and gotta love that single MPG boost If i don't "supercruise", meaning cruise on the highway at 85-90mph, im sure if i slowed it down to 75 I could get 30mpg instead of 27ish

I'm really curious how much you'de really notice the difference between your turbo & mine. Your discription sounds a lot like they way my turbo performs, but mine isn't a ball bearing turbo.

I have 440's, so that is my limiting factor. Bigger injectors would get me the same power, if not more. I just don't want a car that isn't streetable. Not saying that it wouldn't be streetable, I just don't think I want to push the envelope......

My exhaust cam is retarded 2.5 degrees, it makes all the difference. I can see boost at 2000rpms even in a tall gear.

On the highway it sucks... at around 87mph, the turbo starts spooling, and instead of cruising at my goal of -10/-12 vacuum for fuel mpg, it starts to go around zero and you can hear the turbo whine lol...

The 550's are 100% streetable, but it does run rough when cold in the AM. You do have to warm the car up for a few mins.

Stock cams with adjustable gears? How much timw do you have to let the car warm up? I leave the house at 4am already, so additional warm up time for me is FTL....

Well, it might be due i don't have an idle control valve anymore (I didnt like the way it looked with the hood popped).

My idle is around 600rpms cold, once it gets to 800rpms, its pefect. Takes like 3mins

That's about the same amount of time for me. At least I have room to grow when I get bored with my current setup, LOL

I have a .58 & hit 20psi right at 3800-4000.....

im sure it does.. I left it at -2.5 from twins to when i went single. Im sure its doing the same thing. Still using the same cams.
