with the lex/550 combo with an AFPR and adjustment screw on the AFM you can get the TCCS to do minimal correction. that is a good thing. add on a fuel computer and tune for WOT and you have a pretty good set up.

the lex/550 mod is hardly a bandaid.

Now I dont know what to do.. I have to decide in either a SAFC II LexAFM 550cc's or MAFT-PRO 550cc's.. I know the maft is 400.00 and the safc is arround 200.00. I have the 550's I have a lexafm and I am getting a new intercooler soon. I have not installed any of this yet I am trying to figure out what to do, before I buy a SAFC II I need advice. I can wait a few weeks and get the MAFT-PRO but I dont know what else I would need.

This is my current config...

Chrome plated valve covers
SupraSport Upper Intercooler
BIC divorced downpipe
Test Pipe Megan Racing
3 inch catback exhaust
Joe P Manual Boost Controller

MAFT PRO if its an option at all. not only can you tune with it, but you can control boost and go speed density with it. thats a no brainer!

So a MAFT PRO means I do not need an electronic boost controller because it will do that too...correct?

yes, with the boost control solenoid or whatever it uses. for all the details search for MAFT PRO on mkiiitech.com

What are your hp goals? if you're not looking for 500+hp and you already have the Lex and 550's I'd say get a Walbro and SAFC and you should be able to accomplish very good power goals, if you have the time/money/feel you'll ever have an itch for more power, go for MaftPro.

Yea I have everything except the Walbro and SAFC II .. I think thats what I will do.. If I decide I want more power, I will get another car to drive every day and make the supra a weekend fun car..

Thanks for the help!!

You forgot to mention A/F ratio monitoring. Add a wideband O2 setup to that list. An EGT guage can be used as well but the probe needs to be mounted pre-turbo and the response time is much slower than a wideband.

Good luck. :icon_surp

^^Very good point. I did forget monitoring for tuning.
But I've heard narrow bands(egt gauge) are about as good as a strobing light when it comes to tuning, just something fancy to look at. Go with a wideband.

You're thinking narrow band O2 monitoring. EGT (exhaust gas temperature) monitoring involves a thermal probe in the exhaust stream and an analog guage.

Do away with the AFM altogether with Maft. or even better MaftPro.

Or do away with all the piggybacks and go standalone. Megasquirt is the same price as a Maftpro, will do more and datalog. You can choose whatever rpm you want for a rev limiter too.

This isn't true. If you have a wideband, which anyone adjusting there fuel should have then you can see your AFR. If it's kept under 16 psi with a Lex and 440's it won't even get into the 12's, ok maybe a 12.1. It's the people that don't have a wideband and crank it up, especially with a stock fuel pump. Same can happen with 550's if you max them out too.

With an FCD my duty cycle was around 95% just before the rev limiter, measured with an auto DVM. I was well past whatever fuel cut there would have been even with a Lex.
