Did anyone ever find out for sure how to make this work..?

I can't find any info on it other than people saying to try that...

Also, could it possibly be used to run COP in waste spark mode or would I need to run parallel ignitors with one running 1 3 2 and the other running 6 4 5?

hey gixxer, I know someone in the 3s group that did COP on his vr4, I think he trashed the ignitor though... I think he had to run a DIS-4 to make it work... damn, not sure, let me ask what the hell he did.

edit: Yeah he is running an aem ems coupled with the dis-4(for the signal amp... not sure how he does it), the mitsu ignitor was scrapped.

I'm trying to get away from multiplex and do coil on plug... which seems to not be very simple.

Why couldn't aem put just ONE more coil output in their plug and play box....lol

I'm wondering also.... can I use (chrysler 300m coils) one ignitor to run waste spark on these, or will it not trigger the coils properly..

Gixxer, still having that ignition issue? I just finished installing my AEM this week, so far so good, still not tuned for boost yet. I'll let you know if we run into issues.

PS: Guys, I started this thread in the suggestion section
http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54453

If you guys add your support, we can probably show that we are ready for a stand-alone section. Gixxer, Drjonez, buldozr. The AEM forums lacks MKIII traffic.

you can do it all with toyota parts and you dont need to worry about dwell and stuffs.

With a few diodes you can trigger the stock 7m ignitor like a standard aftermarket unit. And on a performance engine, I really don't understand why everyone here only wants coil on plug. You don't get a hotter spark from cop, it's not an upgrade. People build an engine for power, and then choose their ignition system based on looks. The stock 7m coilpack or GM coils make a hotter spark then 1jz coils or is300 coils. Without a CDI ignition the cop coils aren't going to get you past 500whp, yet I saw the Final Stage car ran a 9.9sec 1/4 with a stock coil pack and regular plug wires.

I'm doing it because... I want to...

If I need a CDI, thats not a problem, I'll order one up. I'm tired of the stupid multiplex for one thing, and the faster I get rid of that the better. I'd also like coil on plug just to have it, and for the ease of changing plugs with the setup I have built.

So do I would just use the trigger wire for coils 1&6 together, 3&4, 2&5?

Then use the 3si ignitor corresponding outputs to run the paired triggers?

I would have to turn the multiplex settings off in AEM, and what other changes?

Plug wires make it even easier to get to the plugs then cop. :naughty: All I need to change me plugs is the spark plug socket. :icon_bigg

This makes the output of the stock 7m ignitor work with a standard 3 channel input from a AEM or Stinger or any other standalone.
You would just set up the AEM to run a 3 channel ignitor, and the plugs would be batch fired like you said.

I have yet to see a 7m ignitor fail, they are cheap or free, and they work as well as any other non-cdi aftermarket ignitor you can buy.
If you want to run cop, you could use the same diode circuit, and run two 7m ignitors for a total of 6 channels.

thanks Aaron...

But out of curiosity, why do you have to run two ignitors? They don't perform as a voltage supply source for the coils, only as a switch to trigger spark... correct?

Or does it drop the resistance too low on the drivers in the ignitor to run it like this?

I'm giving up on the project. Anyone want a prefabbed bracket with 6 300M chrysler coils mounted on it? Its already got most of the wiring done, bolts right on top of a 7m...

ditch the Ignitor and run a M&W ignition box ... the pro 14... Just use the Aem to trigger the box directly. It works really well.

youre trying to get rid of the stock ignitor?

is this supposed to stay waste spark with the AEM? or can you switch it to a sequential?

if you run an HKS twinpower, youll have the CDI aspect as well as a multispark setup; at least thats what their propaganda states. i would think that should enhance the output of the wastespark coils, however youd like to run them.
