I got the pump, installed it and hooked up the power steering pump. I'm almost there. One more thing and I'm ready to roll.... Toyota charged me $180 for the pump, housing and two gaskets. No pulley. The pulley just for the water pump is another $150-180. Screw that!!! Once I get some money I'll get the pulley set from drift motion. I need to fix my ecu now. Anyone know where to get it done? Anyone know where to get a 220uF, 10v capacitor?

How much is it? Is there a link? How long does it take? Its not just a blown capacitor. There is also a burned circuit. I actually have two ecus that need to be fixed.

Driftmotion has a sticky in the vendor section about the ecu fix I believe and I seem to remember around $100 for the service but I could be wrong.

why is there so much confusion about the water pumps??

p751314_1.jpg

From an Aristo 2jzgte if you turn the pulley it pumps hydraulic fluid out of the nut there

thats for a clutch fan , i will need another pulley for that if i want to use it.

I have a question, so in order to do a 2jz gte fan clutch conversion on the 1jz i would need:

2jz waterpump+backhousing ~ $180

pulley $50 driftmotion

fan clutch+fan <----Need to know how much it costs and if its possible to use one from a 7m ge/ 7m gte?

sorry for old thread bump

The pulley can be had for about $25-$40 used or get the aluminum cheepo set from the auction site for about $45.

The fan has to be from a 2J TT and you can usually get from $50-$75 used. I got mine for about $45 a couple years back. Just have to be looking.

The housing/assembly/pump for about $65 used.

These are all things I've gotten used, but was looking for 'em way before I even had the engine. If you are already waiting on one, get a new one from DM. It may take a looooong time before you find a used one.

you need a 2jz clutch (n/a or turbo its same part #) and a turbo fan. the stuff aaron sells is a good price for being in stock (i bought mine before he offered em and i paid just a little less but waited 3-4 weeks to get everything in from toyota)

i wouldnt buy anything used. just low mileage.... not sure why anyone would buy a used water pump to save a few bucks... :p

^^The waterpump can be found at almost any autoparts for $45-$80ish. I wanted the housing and the waterpump came with it... a used waterpump is better than none ;-)

And actually, I believe that to get a reman one from most autoparts, there's a core charge. Dunno what that would be, but figured if I had a pump to trade, it'd save me a few $$ later. I don't think they'd accept the hydro one for a trade.

The $65 I spent was for the assembly, including the pump. I did not even have to use the waterpump gasket I already had, since I did not separate the housing/pump... I just used the o-rings.

would a 2jz-ge housing & water pump work on a 1jz?

they are different, there is a way to use them but ive only seen it done on supras with a T6 turbo (or people jsut buy the electric water pump)

and IIRC the N/A water pumps cost more :sarcasm:

ok im running into some confusion, some sources tell me i need the backhousing, others tell me i only need the actual water pump. I iknow the water pump costs about 60 bucks and the whole backhousingset is around 160.

If I buy JUST the 2jz waterpump will it bolt right on the 1jz backhousing?

129$ from toyotapartscheap.com or 128 from champion for both pieces...

same thing i bought...

you can see its a complete water pump, both pieces put together and came with that gasket and that o ring (well you cant really tell its a two piece there but it has the part the thermostat goes and the other turbo coolant return etc)

http://www.trademotion.com/partloca...=1995&graphicID=F807030&callout=5&catalogid=1

when you click on the GTE water pump it shows it as 1 unit (#5) thats exactly what i got
