I started to rip shit apart under the hood... I got the water pump to wiggle a lot, but there is one bolt I can't see somewhere. Can anyone that has done the water pump swap on the 1jz give me a hand? What all needs to be taken off to get this damn water pump off? If someone can help me one day whenever? Thanks

IIRC, the crank pulley, lower timing cover, and timing belt need to come off first.

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly.

If anything more has to come off, it should be pretty obvious once you get those parts off.

Can you run the 1JZ water pump with no hydrofan setup?

Or do you have to switch to 2jz water pump if you remove the hydrofans?

im using a small transmission cooler (30$) from advanced auto. ill let you know how that works out

I don't know what's wrong but the 2jz water pump doesn't fit. It isn't direct bolt on. Is the water pump supposed to be from a 2jz-ge or a 2jz-gte? If it is able to fit, there is fabrication needed.

I heard a 1jz-gte from a soarer has a mechanical water pump. I'm going to see if I can get one of those. That SHOULD be definately direct bolt on. I'm going to see if I can get it today. Hopefully! I'll tell you what happens.

muah hah hah hah LOL! I'm about to order the pulley set from driftmotion. I ordered the water pump from toyota yesterday. Hopefullly, it'll be in today or tomorrow. Once I bolt that up and hook up my powersteering pump It'll be drivable. Then I have to get the ecu fixed so it'll stop dumping fuel like a bitch. Then I can get it inspected. Then I can TERRORIZE TOO! MUAH HAHAHA!!! :evil2:

Picked up my water pump from Toyota today. Just waiting now on my pulley set from from Driftmotion and then everything should get bolted up along with my Flex-A-Lite 210 puller fans this weekend and I'll be back on the road to terrorize all the ricers in my town. :biglaugh:
