2jz swap... and tranny questions

ive done some research but some of the articles/threads kind of contradict each other and ive become confused. :1zhelp:


I know that the 2j can be swapped somewhat easily. I know i need a 2j cross member, and the 2j mount correct? Educate me... :nono:

Also the 7m auto tranny is a teensy bit different then the 2j auto tranny.. so can i keep the auto tranny until i get some money to pick up an r154?

I don't know much about the transmissions, but I know for the 1jz, you have to change the bellhousing from the 1jz to your transmission. I already had a five speed, so I just used the tranny that came with my clip. Good luck

you can either swap a late 89+ crossmember and mounts, or you can use BIC motor mount adaptors. to keep the tranny (dont quote me) but i think you can use a 1j auto tranny from a supra.

JZ block bolt patterns are diffrent from 7M

so what ever trany bolts to a 7M will only work for 7M
and what ever works for any JZ engine will work on any other JZ engine

In order to use the R154 or the W58 5 speed manuels you need the JZ bell housing

I hope that clears it up for you.
the 7M autos will not work because they are one piece But any JZ auto will work on any JZ block 1 or 2


Dont try to use the 6speed the rear diff is way off for the 6 speed gearing
If you want an auto the aristro autos are easy to find and cheap i bought most of my a340E autos for $60-120.

here's what i got.

1JZ/2JZ motor mounts from BIC $180
1JZ bellhousing from champion toyota $300
1JZ lighweight flywheel from 935motorsports $235
7M/1JZ clutch kit from 935motorsports $450

im pretty sure you would need a 1JZ flywheel if you intended to use a r154. Ive never heard of using a 2JZ-GE flywheel

If you're getting the W58, you need the bellhousing off the 2JZ-GE engine.

so here it is..

2jzgte (the cheapest part, SYKE)
2jzge flywheel
1J auto tranny bell housing
BIC convert mounts
2J EC and harness

and all the single turbo conversion crapola.. what else, im trying to get a shopping list together.

also the throttle cable.
if you get the aristo 2jz then yo need to spend about $550 converting the oil pan to a rear sump.

if you don;t want to use the hydro fan then you need to get the mechanical fan waterpump. i paid $150 for mine from toyota.
you'll also need to get the pulley for it.

you'll aslo need arp flywheel bolts. got'em from driftmotion.

motor(big single turbo)
bell housing and r154 tranny.
im not sure if i have the right crossmember, the car is an 89. it has the square mounts, so i think im gonna need the IMC brackets someone correct me if im wrong. and my other question is, would i use a 7mgte clutch with a 2jz flywheel? any other (good) suggestions?:1zhelp:

Use 7m clutch
1jz or 2jzge flywheel
1jz Bellhousing
Mounts change crossmember or buy brackets
