Looking good, But personally a better job could be achieved by removing the fenders, I went back and redid some paint work because with fenders on, you will get a hardline between the chassis and the fenders, if the fenders flex, you will get crack where the mating surface is. pulling the fenders will also get you good acces to the front clip "frame" which i also painted, and also, pulling the fenders will let you get all of the old dirt and grime out. When your painting this stuff can and will get blown out and up and will settle in the paint. I also learned from this in a hard way when I painted the car, its a pain in the ass to wetsand nibs from base coat,

When I redo my engine bay (when ever my tranny goes out) Im going to pull the motor, subframe, get everything steam cleaned, I will shave holes, just make it look tits.

But it looks like your doing a good job and your on the right path. also you find that you can hide tons of wiring when you start getting rid of stuff and miving things to the inside of the fenders.

+1..looks awesome, but would have definitely removed the fenders too..you went so far, and removing the fenders is barely any extra work at that point. but i'm sure the end result will be great!!

I completely agree with y'all, but I didn't remove them for a couple reasons. When the car goes in for paint, it will be delivered with the hood, front bumper and fenders off. The section underneath is going to be undercoated and I am going to have them paint the top of frame where the fenders bolt to match the exterior better. Also, I have really bad OCD; so tearing a single part off... leads to another which leads to another lol.... I didn't even really plan on painting the bay at this point. Just couldn't stand the dirty!:3d_frown:

Today:
I went ahead and sprayed the base and clear. It looks good enough. I learned that when you think you have enough light, you could always add more! I have a couple spots that are a little thin and I still need to undercoat the lower tunnel portion. I will get better lit/less blury pics when it is touched up!

The gasket set came in, so I assembled the head as well.

Update:
Havn't been able to do much lately, but check out what came in the mail today!

I'm Heading home for Christmas, going to be assembling the block there. I still need to order a Cometic 1.6mm MHG. If my math doesn't fail me, this is the size HG I need after having a total of .010 removed from the block/head to put me around 9.0:1 compression. No one seems to carry this size, so I will have to order it directly from Cometic.
