I was on my way home when at the light there was a white nissan 240 sx 5 speed. The light turned green and I didn't hit it cuz I though the guy didn't want to race so he got a car ahead but at the time I shifted to 3rd I starting pulling. When i shifted to 4th gear I had 1 1/2 car on him. The nissan was damn loud probably had headers but for sure a catback exhaust. It was the smaller 240sx. I've raced the newest 240sx with headers, cat back, chip , pulleys, cai and i smoked him pretty bad so i don't know what was done to this little 240 sx. We raced one more time in the freeway but the asshole took the car pool and he was byhimself so I let him go. According to my boost gauge I'm just getting 7psi.

thats cuz it takes after the supra, and it RWD, rear engine. not FWD.

240's are RWD, and if you gut the interior and put coilovers in, they FEEL fast.

EDIT: and the alltrac pwns the celica world

Give the 240SX some respect!... :icon_razz We have a friend that has a stock SR20DET swap, in a hatchback, and he runs right at 14.0et, @ 104mph trap, with massive wheelspin on launch! Those cars can really haul, if built correctly. Alot of the traits that attract people to Supra's are also present in the 240's! Just look for them, or go to a Nissan meet. You'll see what I mean!
Here's a local speed shop's car: SR20DET, 430whp@18psi sub 13 second @117mph on 19's! (car was detuned to 350 at races)

Agreed, money + literally any car = fast.

The interior on the 240 is very nice. My complaint is the fact that none of the fast engines ever made it to North America, and I am not fond of importing an engine from Japan to make my car fast. I'd rather just use an engine that was sold here, it makes buying parts for it SO much easier.

my freind has a 240 also but its slower than my moms corolla,

even slow, it is a damn nice sports car. it has everything a young person would want from a cheep sports car, its fairly light, it handles beauitifully, good throttle response with exhaust.

its a quick everyday two door that is just screaming to be a sports car.

stock 240, is like beating a honda, sr20det, i respect anyone with hte knowledge to do a swap like that cus GAWD DAMN the wiring must suck.

MR2 engine sits where our trunks are. The transmission is actually a FWD style trans, used by many Celica owners who swap the 3SGTE into Celicas(making an almost alltrac/GT-4, used by HKS to make the first 10 sec FWD). I used to own a 95 Celica and really wanted an MR2 turbo, but since they still sell for almost 10k(for the turbo), and my fiance has a child, I went with the Supra(back seat is good for toddlers and we'll have a 'family' car by the time she needs more room).

240 is RWD only. That's what makes them so popular as drift cars. And they can actually be pretty fast, but still nowhere near the potential of the Supra(or even a 3SGTE swapped Celica).

RR- engine behind the rear axle. Posche 996
FR- Front engine, rear drive. 240sx, your Supra
FF- Front engine, front drive. 200sx

Speaking of 240s. I have a guy that lives in my area who thinks his car is hotshit. Its done up with a very loud high pitched coffee can muffler, headers, chip and maybe some other shit. So yeah he pulls up to the light one day and revs the piss outta his car and wants to race me. My car is a 88 NA supra 5 speed completely bone stock with a fresh rebuilt engine in it. So i peel out and take off like a batt outta hell and his car could barely catch up to me. I had 3 full car lengths on this really really loud and to mention shitty 240 sx. :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Im pretty sure the guy didnt know how to drive stick or else that car coulda just kept up nicely.

I used to have a 240sx. Sold it for $500 (BHG) and used that money for my SupraSavingsAccount. Now, Im on my third Supra Turbo and need to replace the clutch and get her back in the street. 240's are nice and quick if you do a sr20det swap. Nice drift cars though (so much easier than trying to drift a Supra). But i drove plenty of 240powered sr20det cars and they just didnt have that much pull in the back (unless upgraded turbo) Stick with the Supra, more power, more displacement, more of alot of things. I mean its not like we live in Japan or anything and gotta hang with the Drift crowd... We live in America and we gota smoke the V8's and other tincans especially with 4 cylinders with either VTEC or AWD/turbo. You guys know what I'm talkin about...
