This originally was posted in the General Discussion Forum, but it has basically been bumped onto the 2nd page with no reply, so I figured I might have posted it in the wrong section. Here we go:

Hey everyone. I had two issues show up almost at the same time, so they might be related.

I have an auto tranny, mk3, 550's, lex, walbro, fpr, 50 trim, running 16 psi with supporting mods.

Auto tranny shims 1/2, 2/3 accumulaters, 12x12 tranny oil cooler with fan

Issue 1: From first into 2nd gear, i feel a consistent vibration (2 to 3 vibrations) slight, as the car shifts from first to second. Once in gear, it immediately goes away. It is not present under WOT in any gear, just in the shifting 1/2 gear.

It happens under 13 psi (boost controller off), and at 16 psi.

Issue 2: On release of any moderate to heavy throttle, I smell a faint oil/metallic smell as I'm driving. This is happening recently. A buddy said that it could be the PCV.

Any feedback or leads are welcome here.

My build thread/mod list can be found here if anyone is interested further: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98571

Thanks in advance.

Umm....What kind of vibrations are you getting between shits? :momaru:
What kind of toilet are you chillin on?
As for the metallic/oil smell...what have you been eating?

Ok- as for the vibration between shiFts,
I might guess either an issue with the flexplate/ bolts, or the torque converter.

haha, woops...sorry about the that shi*t

Thanks for the advice on the torque converter. That's the second time that's been mentioned to me. Any other ideas are welcome.

The metallic/oil smell is after any moderate to heavy throttle is released from the motor (let off the gas). I am not loosing any oil or other liquids. I check them religiously. Again, my techy friends are saying PCV/blowby. Should I just get a catch can and see if that solves the issue?

I was getting that sort of metallic oil smell too and didn't think anything of it. Maybe a bad seal in the turbo. It turned out to be the head gasket area between cylinder 1 and 2 blew out. (2.0mm greddy mhg and arp studs)

When I get on moderate throttle, I sometimes smell oil too.
I think I have a slight leak from the oil feed on my turbo, and it's hitting my DP.
But not sure. Going to tear into it when I get home.

maybe transmission is leaking oil to your exhaust?
does it smell transmission oil or normal motor oil?
