Whats up guys, i am going megasquirt soon and it can support sequential fuel and ignition, so i am planning on running 6 COPs. i was looking around and i like the idea of the 1zz coils becuase they apparently work good for the 2jz guys and are smart coils (built in ignitor) so that would be nice to delete the ignitor. however, i have seen some posts about people saying that they are too tall for the 7m, so i was wondering if anyone who has tried these or is currently running them post up some pics or confirm they can or cant work. and if they dont work are there other COPs with built in ignitors that can fit the 7m better. Thanks

They should work fine.

If they are too tall they will just be about as tall as the top of the valve cover. Just need to make a mounting bracket for them.

Not really- the boots are fixed length and you don't really want to give any insulation up in that end. The connector also angles upwards, so that doesn't help a lot, either. Even still, I have a set of 6 to install on my car if the vvti 2jzge coils run out of power for me. Function > Form imo

that looks good and they are not too funky looking. but i wonder if it would clear the stock throttle linkage that sits above number 5 spark plug becuase im still running the stock intake manifold. do you have any pics at an angle horizontal to the valve covers?

At the rate that build is going, the stock manifold will likely be ditched in favor of a larger plenum volume one (ffim, my guess).

Not to sure about the stock linkage. What I did on my old 7m is make a bracket that held the throttle linkage underneath the plenum, coming up from behind, flipped the throttle plate 180 degrees, and got rid of the linkage shit that goes on the valve covers..

Those are sick! id be interested in buying one if i go with these coils. about the linkage i still use the cruise control so if it doesnt fit im going to have to find a way to retain both cruise control and pedal cables. not to hard i dont think. but i like these alot

Can they be used with stock ecu and harness like the is300 coils?

Negative, as the signal from the coils to the ecu are completely different, You would need a stand alone computer to control the ignition like Stinger, Pro-efi, motec or AEM V2.

Hmmmm I'm pretty sure you can run them.... Its a standalone, the only thing different is there are 6 inputs but they are bridged internally. So only wasted spark can be ran. I've seen Ls coils on V1, and they are practically identical.

I remember when Billy and I where researching the 1ZZ upgrades, their where issues with the "crank/rpm" signal on the V1 AEM's.
