Picked up this '87 turbo, from a co-worker for $1500. 9/10 body and interior. about 80k on a JDM engine, lots of newer parts, and a improperly installed MHG I'm re-doing right now.
I was browsing e-bay and picked up this generic turbo kit which spur-of-the-moment, I thought was a steal ($560) and would be a great start, now I'm wondering if I should use everything in it, however I think even tho they are generic components, they will still perform better than stock, and be a good bang for the buck to start with, untill I can afford to upgrade them.
I'm planning on getting the maft-pro, with the wideband and boost control kit to run everything. I'm friends with a exhaust shop that can build me a good 3" exhaust for it, and a connection at a toyota dealership to get some lexus 550 injectors.
engine has 155-160 compression, ran perfect, just was leaking exhaust into the coolant.
So I'd like some informed opinions on this turbo kit, if is all worth using, or if its totally useless and will cause nothing but problems (and why). I know theres a lot of fab work to do, which I'm fine with, I'm not new to building up cars, this is my first turbo build however, so I'm not familiar with turbo component specifics. my goal is just to build up a fun weekend car, and replace / upgrade components over time, but I'd like to start with what I have.
