I finally stayed away from SM for a night after work and made what I was talking about doing for a while. This is the "beta version 1.0" done with only $20 in materials (and almost a full 2 lb roll of mig wire! :biglaugh
I know the flow will obviously be better with mandrel bends but this is just to basically mock it up and test it. I have a 120v mig welder so I do the best I can considering the tubing is .120" wall and the flanges are 3/8". None of the transitions are more then 45 deg and the tubing is 1.5" id so it should flow ok. The twin's inlets are only about 1.25" and they are oval shaped.
The turbo will sit within 1/2" of exactly where it would be in the 7m engine bay. I did that so it will accommodate all the 7m turbo and exhaust upgrades most people already have when they do their 1jz swap.
If the twins take a crap, you could buy an inexpensive ct26 and slap it on. Or, for under $500 you could have a CT26 upgraded and have a fast spooling reliable turbo capable of 400whp+, and not have to make a custom exhaust and not need an external wastegate.
If this works out well I will have it made by a "professional" in mandrel bent stainless and the pricing will be affordable.
<commence flaming> :biglaugh:
I now have a lot more respect for those little Chinese dudes making ebay manifolds!
