I have a friend that was trying to use 2J piston rings. This is what he found . . .

Why don't you just run OEM 2J piston rings?

BECAUSE THEY DONT FIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2JZGTE ring specs:

#1: 1.5mm

#2: 1.5mm

#3: 4.0mm

1JZGTE ring specs:

#1 1.2mm thickness and 3.40mm depth

#2: 1.5mm thickness and 3.65mm depth

#3 4.0mm thickness and 2.4mm depth

He said that only one ring fit or something. All I know is that they don't fit and you should not open your 1J unless it is absolutely necessary cuz 1J piston rings are super hard to come by . .. werd

Cheers,

Jago

PS: This was one of the reasons I went with the 2JZGTE . .. that and torque (Daily Duty).

Correct butt you can use aftermarket 2JZ pistons for the 1JZ Like CP JE etc etc

Iff you need like 1 piston and the rings for de 1JZ Then you have a problem very hard to find (rings)

some people claim that 86-94 3S-GTE use the same piston rings s the 1JZ butt nobody ever compare those rings

Size is the sam of the 3SGTE (1.2,1.5,4.0mm x 86mm)

Most people just putt an 2JZ blok and make it an 1.5 JZ :icon_bigg

lol, you're spot on with all that. 3GSTE are "apparently" though .. . it's also my friends last ditch plan. I will remind him that he could just use 2J pistons.

Since none of this has to do with me and I am relaying said info, may I ask what CP would 2J pistons yield in a 1J block?

Cheers,

Jago

Tim from Sound Performance posted that CP pistons for the 2j were the same dimensions & look very similar to stock 1jz pistons, Search is your friend.

ok im that person that found the rings dont fit......so the compression height of the 1jz pistons are 1.338" exactly the same as the AFTERMARKET 2jz pistons!!! sooo after taxing out my resources to allocate rings for the 1jz, ill just save 2 pay checks to buy some forged slugs......since im uping the boost need to be extra safe.....thanks jacob for the help!!!!!!!!

You can fit the 2jz pistons on the 1jz but they will have to be made for the n/a 2jz and still the compression will be lower than with the stock 1jz pistons. Don't even think on using turbo 2jz pistons on your 1jz. I compared the rings of the 3sgte engine and they will fit on the 1jz pistons. I hope I wasn't to late.. Good luck..

Tim used to work for Sound Performance, He posted the info here about the CP pistons for the 2j been identical to the stock 1jz, As in size & where the ring lands are & all the rest of the info you need, I can not find his damn post lol... my search skill sucks..
