why do all that when i can do a headgasket on a 2jz-ge and be just as reliable. lol

why spend money to swap a motor in when all you have to do is change the headgaasket on the motor in your car already, use arp studs trq them correctly and youl never blow a hg again. Keep oil in your car, do regular preventive maintance, and you can run 450hp all day long no problem. So ask your self whats cheaper? a motor swap or a hg swap? you tell me.

Ive put over 8,000 miles on my 7m, after i rebuilt adrian's block. stock pistons, stock rods, just new bearings, stock oem hg and arp studs, thats it. I drive 160 miles twice a week. 80 miles each way to visit the wifey in ct. And also to school everday and to work everyday, then to the races, beat on it, to the dragstrip beat on it, and anybody else who passes me to0 fast on the highway.

I can see your point but before this thing turns into a 7M vs 2J debate id just like to say that the 2J is just NEWER technology. Its a redesigned newer Toyota motor. I am personally going for a 2JNAT down the line. 2jzge's are just sooo cheap and you can use all of the 7M turbo electronics to run it. The 7MGTE ecu is actually a pretty good ecu. Definitly consider going Holset HX35 or HY35.

actually it was the block that was cracked. I bought the motor, Saw that it was mixing, retrq the hg, It was still mixing, change the hg. It was still mixing, sent the head to the machine shop to be milled flat, It was still mixing, sent the block to the machine shop to find out it was crack and that was the culprit the whole time.

Got adrians block, swap my pistons, rods, crank ova, new bearings, new hg, arp studs, not one problem at all. Doesnt even burn oil.

yes jz is new technology, Yes i will end up with a 2jzna-t in my car. But for rite now, a 7m will meet my goals in term of power and reliability. Its really like wat do you want to get for your money. Seriously if all you want is 400hp, Why swap in a 2j? To me its a waste. If you got a 2j in a mkiii, that shyt needs to be making atleast 400+ bare minimum because if it not its like you just did it for looks to be cool.

So, you are an 18 year old college that makes statements like "there truck turbos right?" that has little money, no plan and even less knowledge of the motors you want to swap in. I see an EPIC FAIL coming.

Leave it alone for your own good.

I go to school for automotive technology...im not saying im a genius, its my first year but who the f*ck are you, teach me something then if you know so much. I did no research on the turbo, a co-worker told me its a truck turbo with garret internals, so thats what i was going with.

Anthony its all up to you, its your car do what you want to do with it. Im just saying for the price wise and your power goals, 7m make more sense. But then you have some ppl who swap in a 2j and just leave it on the stock jdm twins for ever, so in the end, do what makes you feel happy,.

The holset turbos came in Dodge cummins diesel trucks. They are solid turbos and will boost 20-30psi all day. There are a couple of thread on the forum that discuss their potential.

The main influence of my build is funds. And I am always looking at things in the long run. In my case, It makes sense to me to get a 2jzge and turbo it. It will ultimately be a lot cheaper in the long run and reliable. I believe that the reason most supra owners are broke is because they are recovering form BHG and general 20yr old maintenance. Yes a 7M can be built to handle 450+ HP. But I love the fact that a stock 2j NA head will outflow a 7M head any day of the week, Piston speeds are safer in a 2J, oiling system is superb. These are issues that can be addressed on a 7M but I want to focus my attention to other aspects. so why should I bother??? If you have decided that a 2J is what you want then start working towards that from today. Don't buy 7M upgrades and then part everything to get a 2J setup. People spend money on their NA cars to go 2.5" exhaust and get headers and all that stuff. Then they decide to go 7MGTE. Then they want divorced downpipes and HKS crossover pipes and all the shenanigans. Then they want a 2J. Stop what you are doing and plan from now where every dollar will go into your car. A good detailed excel sheet helps.

Ultimately it is your car and it is your decision. It seems people want to keep the 7M alive and I respect that.
