Seriously who is this guy that anyone should care what he has to say....

Wanna rain on his parade? Get the owners of the photos to go after him for using them ;) Hell, most of them are part of our community...

Oh, and the burgandy? Brand new it looks pretty decent and it was in style back then.

lol - I think he is a member here. He's right in a lot of ways, however, I'd like to see a list of competing sports cars from 1987 that were oh so much better.

I wanna see a list of competing sports cars of today that can match it...

I'm with you Dave. When the MKIII came out it was a high-end sports car that was way ahead of its time. Of all the cars I've driven, the MKIII is by far the most comfortable (although the Grand Marquis is uber plush). Now I'm curious to see what the sports car competition looked like back in the late 80's. Not many cars I know of can handle 800 RWHP through most of the stock drivetrain (especially the critical parts like the driveshaft, diff, and axles).

I'm not even talking modified. From memory, there was:

- Mustang
- Camaro
- Corvette
- Grand National
- Supra
- Rx7
- Nissan had something out then... 260 / 280 / 300z, I forget which one was current at the time. Probably the 280z.
- I think Nissan also had a 200sx or some such.
- All the usual European cars - Volkswagen, Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati, Aston Martin...

Anyone add to this list?

Yeah, but could they hang with the MKIII on both the drag race and the twisties? And how upgradable were they for various applications like drifting, auto-x, road racing, and whatever else that MKIII owners have modded their Supra's for?

The RX7's are awesome cars for everything you listed above. Although the 13BT had the apex seal issue they revised that though not 100% sure if it was on the 89 13BT or on the 13BREW. Bolt on FC Turbo II's are QUICK. Stock for stock the Supra would beat the FC. Modded i cant say ive never seen a bolt on FC race a bolt on MK3 but i might put my money on the RX7 if its healthy.
