I had a similar problem with this swap. We finally found the problem. It was not fuel cut but actually speed cut. The shop where i had the swap done was able to resolve this issue by removing the speed limiter and remapping the shift point on the auto trans with their proprietary black box...
I'm actually in the final stages of my 2jz w/auto trans, also experiecing the same problem. I should have an answer by this Monday. I don't think its your trans.
1,000 seems cheap. The more important factor is the quality of their work and the reliabilty of the shop. Will they stand behind their work should you run into any problems in the future.
Very accurate and realistic list of parts. Also you have to take into account for any unforseen problems that always occur. Alot of fab work. So $12,000 is not an unrealistic number.
I kinda like the mkIII body style. Plus I bought this car brand new in 87 and the car is stiil in cherry condition. Everything original except for the wing I put on, which is an 88.
