Recently my power steering had stopped working so I bought a new PS pump. We were installing it today and noticed a sensor on the side( Air control Valve? ). I looked at my old one and noticed that it had just been closed off. What does it do and do I need it?

Ive heard one before from a clip on this forum but other than that no. Isnt it just a lot louder in full boost? I love the way the ar sounds now, but I need to change out the elbow. Ive heard that the DDP gives more power over just changing the elbow to a 3 inch, thats why I was going to get one.
