you could do that. just weld the wg tube shut completly or weld a block off plate at the outlet flange. IJ did this using a GT35R internal wg with no problems at all!

iirc they have sinced solved the clearance issues.

there's been lots of guys use that manifold for T4 setups im sure a quick search can find you the results you so desire. You will be happy with a T4 flanged turbo and a wastegate!
