Good Oil for Torsen LSD rear end

I run Redline 75w90 NS (the one w/o additive since there's no clutches to need the slip additive) Haven't noticed any chatter in the 2 torsens I've run. There's a slight clunk when first engaging/changing direction but backlash is in spec, no chatter noticed. Brian

    Which Spark plug?

Some good info in, all P/N's in one thread. A question, do you guys drive around on street with colder plugs? I've run them and the car didn't seem to have the same low end as stock range. I normally run stock range 2330's but was considering colder for the track (road course, not strip) Are...

Road Atlanta Track Weekend November 21 - 22

I'd love to get to RA but have another event that month, maybe next year. For anyone that's considering it and wanting to get on track it's a great chance to drive a historic racetrack in a more controlled environment than open track. That's a ton of track time too, I'm used to 6 sessions a...

    First HPDE... I'm hooked

Welcome, the first step is admitting the addiction :) The Miata is a great car that'll make you focus on momentum driving, plus a good backup if the Supra is down. That'll be helpful to carry over to the mk3 which is much heavier.

New Carbon Lineup @ Extreme Dimensions

Does anyone have idea of the weight of the various carbon hoods? It's too much for me to buy and try like I've done with some parts. Couldn't get a hold of manufacturers yet, figured some folks have the ED or Chaser stuff and could chime in.

New Carbon Lineup @ Extreme Dimensions

I've seen the hood on Ebay but it's listed as 35lb. Seems odd. Does anyone know if that's accurate? Juanjz, can you get us a weight? I like the drift style hood but weights on any would be helpful. Hatch fitment looks pretty good, would be nice with lexan.

    Shine's Spec V Diffuser debut

Any pics of the end against the tank? I wanted to see how the transition looks. I'm looking for some ideas to add high speed stability and a diffuser may be a help. Nice looking car OP. Will shine prepaint any of their stuff? (I'm a Noob to bodywork) Brian

dust shield modification for brake ducts

That S2k is a great example Howard, in fact that's one of my previous instructors' car. I think it's an effective way to add more cooling. I don't think it'll hurt anything guru but I was going to try to do like on the s2k site and use a 2.5 flange placed into the shield to give the hose...

Spare Parts Thread. If you have spare parts look here!

I've got the AC system out if anyone needs parts. Also a spare stock driveshaft, CSF stock replacement (metal tank) radiator. Brian

What are the Pros and Cons of Windage Trays or Crank Scrapers

That's what I'd be looking to do and what I think Van as done, increasing capacity of the stock pan. I'm not worried about weight there. I don't see it as a big savings and since it's about the lowest point of the car it's one of the last places to look to save weight. I didn't realize until...

What are the Pros and Cons of Windage Trays or Crank Scrapers

For some reason I was thinking the stock pan had a windage tray. It's been a while since I took one apart though. Agreed, both will be helpful, I've been wondering the same Van since I'm hoping to resuurect an engine prep soon. My concerns are the same, fitment and clearance. Hopefully it's...

Why use higher pressure radiator cap?

Can anyone tell me if a higher pressure cap is needed with a larger radiator? To me, the pump won't be pushing more fluid and so it's more pressure the lines and gaskets will see before coolant is pushed to the overflow, I'd rather let that happen than let the hoses see more pressure than usual...

    track settings on coilovers....

No way to what, that a given setting is going to work for him? I wouldn't say it'll necessarily feel like crap, no shelf stuff is going to be but so good anyway since they're made for many applications, not specific to a chassis and of course not specific to a car. To the OP, I've read before...

    AutoX'ers THREAD

I seem to remember someone (Dr J.?) telling me that the JIC arms had such a high starting minimum amount of camber (like -4 deg.) that they really couldn't be used for some applications and certainly not still streetable. Was there an earlier version that didn't have so much camber? What is...

5UPRAH had an off on the track with incar video!

Those are the mk4 ones you're using (rear?) or some custom for your calipers? When I checked they weren't listed for ma/jza70. I'd bet they do help, the rotors (and calipers) are heavy. That was going to be my reasoning for upgrading, not the braking power (although at some point it'll also...

    AutoX'ers THREAD

I'm pretty sure the pivot is part of LCA #2, not the swaybar arm (LCA1) I remember this because I never replaced the pivot bushing because of it's purpose and trying to avoid a potential bind. Later, after snapping LCA1 (where the bushing had been replaced) I spoke with a few other mk3 guys that...

5UPRAH had an off on the track with incar video!

Ok, thought you mean caliper paint. Yeah, I've seen that stuff and it would be helpful. Yeah ducting would be tough to setup properly but it's done on others so should be possible. I agree that depending on the temp. during your event, blocking off the ducts may be needed to keep from...

5UPRAH had an off on the track with incar video!

That looks like a fun track layout, Mr Kiwi ;) Are you talking about running the splitter on an angle so it scoops air bewteen itself and the bottom of the bumper or flush against the bottom of the bumper like most splitters so it creates some front downforce. I agree sending/ducting air to...

koyo radiator port for 1jz sensor, size?

Thanks for the thread info. Where did yall find a plug for this? It's normally hard to find an assortment of metric stuff at least in the States.
