    ATI Damper Mystery

I agree... Although some at the shop thought ATI needed to send it next day air, another upped the anty and said ATI shouldn't have screwed up in the first place. None-the-less, I'm understanding, and happy to get the right part, rather then putting our own TDC mark on the damper. D

Spoke w/John at ATI and he figures I was sent a damper w/the wrong hub. So ATI is sending the replacement hub 2nd day air from Maryland to Oregon, and appologized for the mess. We took the damper apart and we're waiting for the correct hub. We'll see what happens next Tuesday. Van

ATI says their dampers go together one way. Checked the part numbers and it is the correct damper. Called Brian of M&B Cylinder Heads, the engine builder, discussed what ATI told me and he is calling them to double check for himself and will call me back. Brian said we may need to place our...

    ATI Damper Mystery

Hi, We dial indicated #1 piston for TDC to zero degrees and noted the 7M ATI damper sitting at 115 degrees. Ouch! This damper is new, out of the box. I'm planning to call ATI, to ask if we can just take the damper apart, clock it, then reassemble it, but first want to check here, to see if we...

Hey, It would be great to see these capable touring cars down on the track, kikin some butt! ::w00t:: I got started by signing up with Cascade Sports Car Club. I did that in case I liked racing, then the time and money I spent went toward a racing license. You can go to their web site...

M&B Cylinder Heads cc'd the combustion chamber and piston to calculate the static compression ratio at 9.42:1. :aigo: That is with a stock designed combustion chamber, with ceramic coating on the chamber and valve faces, Probe Sportsman pistons, with ceramic coating on the top, 2mm Titan MLS...

Please excuse the blurred views. Here are a few more views to illustrate the work done to the head. Views of the ceramic coating and the back cut valves. A little bling! The company logo and info, that is doing the machining work. Polished the stock cam lobes. Van

    Race Ready 7M

Here are some views of the head work done on the 7M. The cumbustion chamber is thermal barrier coated to reduce hot spots, and hopefully lessen detonation. Three views of the exhaust ports and bowls. In one view you see the builder using a very fine abrasive paste to get a polish and a uniform...

As planned, here are pics of the oil pan that show the pan baffles, in the last two pics... The baffles use a piano hinge, with a stop welded on the back, so it only swings toward the middle of the sump. Van

Thanks, it's an 86.5 Supra I've owned since '92, and the only thing I can add is it hasn't been hit, yet... It is super white w/charcoal grey leather interior. Now all that interior is going out and a roll cage in. After that, I'll likely just polish the exterior, as the original finish is in...

Thanks! I added pics of the Ishi-J crank scraper, during test fittings. Oops! A little too close... on that last one. Van

I did enlarge the oil pan with oil pan buldges and added piano hinge as swinging baffles. I'll try to get pics of the pan up on the forum tonight. Van

Hey! Hows by u? Ya it's been a long haul since u helped me with the rear sub-frame switch out. I've decided to go full road race. I bought two oil pan bulges through Speedway Motors online, added swinging baffles, and had the pan modded last week and is just finished, and coated at STB...

TMS, 2 MM MLS, head gasket to keep the stock comp ratio. After decking the block .5 MM (to get below the errosion on the old deck), and giving the head a polish. Head pics will be coming out on Wednesday. I plan to run the 7M with the same 50trim CT26, so it will likely make better than what...

And more... Ceramic coatings were done by Finish Line Coatings, Milwaukie Oregon: thermal dispersant on the outside, teflon oil shedding coating inside the block; pistons are coated on the top with thermal barrier, skirts with moly and teflon oil shed coating, underside. ATI damper, Probe...

    Race Ready 7M

My intent is to build a reliable, very durable engine, capable of racing in a 12 hour endurance race. Some of my fellow Club members think I'm nuts showing the competition what the engine has undergone. On the other hand I said that SCCA can't DQ me for not documenting what internal improvements...
