The problem as I see it is the "value".
A typical supra owner didn't normally drive the car as their main transport. So the first five years were probably well taken care of. Most of the mk3's I have seen average less than 10,00 km per year, but I would bet the first five years were doubl and...
^^+100!
Supra central' description is bang on.
The only thing missing is high output considerations (detonation melting pistons, tolerance adjustments, valve float, restrictive exhaust port, etc...). However, if your walking into a 500-1000 rwhp build you should be aware of that anyway.
Less issues with stock clutch fan and it normally flows more. I have only heard of a few happy with efans, but having never used them, I can't qualify that with experience.
I got to where you were and threw in the towel. Had a built short block shipped for 2400 and head tested/rebuilt. My thinking was, when you are that deep in... Start fresh with a full rebuild.
Wasn't cheap, but I'm happy.
I have a built 7m and no regrets. However, the 2j is a better platform unarguably. If I could backtrack to day 1, I would run 2jz.
However... My 7m should last the life of the car easily while pushing a fun 400 rwhp.
I capped it at that due to stock head setup and 91 octane fuel. All I need...
Can you test fit them prior to purchase? Mine came off of a 350z as well but had a +38 offset on them (and not as wide). 255's on the back are pretty well flush with my setup but I want to run 275-295 depending on fit.
You can get the bushings or they come with the control arms if your getting those. I have to replace all 4 on my car.. So have done the parts search already. 2000.00 includes tanabe control arms and all the parts that are currently seized (plus shipping).
I have a parts list done.
I recommend you stay with stock everything except sway bars . There are lower control arms but they have an updated parts number and are about 250.00 each (I think).
Stay away from energy bushings unless you hav a reason to go there. Also avoid exposed end links (I think they are called hein)...
Can you pop up a photo of how you routed that (just a top view). I'm curious how you made it work. I have the same intercooler setup (sans crossover pipe... because its bent wrong), so I get asked a bit for how to do it, but I haven't figured out a way to route that. The rest is all good.
Any car costs money to maintain. Compared to other 9k cars it's probably a steal.. Plus it's actually a great car to drive.
The bad part happens when people get hit with repair bills when they can't do it themselves and don't fix the issues because "the car is not worth it".
