I was more referring to the overall strength then reliability.
The 7m overall long term reliability issue is because of the bad overall hose layout and the type of gaskets used, along with the oil pickup.
The head/block design itself on top of the head bolt torque being too low is to blame...

From what friends have told me you will need closer to 200 amps to weld aluminum as thick as the flange on this project. A 135 amp mig welder would probably only work for thin tubing or aluminum sheet.
The 7m block is very srtong strong, but the 2jz has a shorter stroke, meaning less area that can flex, because the mains are closer to the cylinders. Plus the 2j block is way more beefy in the area around the cylinders. One of the flaws of the 7m IS the long stroke IMHO. Sorry 7m block, you...
