So on Monday (8/9/2010) I picked up a bottle of Clevite Bearing Guard (assembly lube) from a local speed shop, and dropped off my oil pan at a buddy's place. He's going to drop it off at the machine shop and have it cleaned for me. $15 bucks for them to clean the pan!

I'm honestly not sure if they have any negative effects with keeping them in there. You could PM Ronnie about it if you have doubts.
The only way I know how to get them out is to either A) drop the subframe enough to slide the spacers out, or B) lower the subframe a little bit, cut the spacers...
In Ronnie's thread for the poly subframe bushings, he states that the insulator that sits between the subframe and body (the "tophat" you're talking about) is not needed :)
I was told by THMotorsports that you can go +/- 3k without needing revalving, and anything more than that it's an extra cost and are the coilovers would then be special order :)
firmer throttle pedal just adjust the throttle linkage that runs over the valve covers (unless you have RHD, I'm not sure how that works). I have my gas pedal adjusted so that there is 0 slop. press the pedal and the throttle plate opens :)
So I should hopefully be getting a set of standard size ACL bearings (main/rod/thrust) sometime this week and swap those out. I'm sending out my oil pan to be cleaned by a buddy of mine who runs a business and has a hookup at the machine shop, so it should be relatively cheap :)
