YES!
I've done 4 1jz 240 to date. It's fun as hell and you don't need anything more than a stock PP and 6puck clutch. You can make 445rwtq and laugh to the bank. I am making that on my 3800lbs+ SC300 and no slip at all.
It pulls very nice. I have no cams. Dyno does seem laggy but it really is not.My turbo goes positive @ 2300rpm. at 3k I am at 5psi full boost hits at 3800 however, powerband hits fully at around 4400.
Then goes flatline til redline.
Fellas:
1) 373cc injectors are good for appox 330rwhp to remain in the 80% duty. Yes people have done way over that however, if they stick you have no clue what you are spraying. Your AFR can dip into the 9 but that can well be the other 5 compensating for the 1 going lean.
So stay safe and...
No Jizake is right.
The 28 series turbos are oversized 25 series. When they were crossing over the 2560r became the plain jane 28r.

If you have a turbo shop nearby they can rebalance it for you. Probobly by clipping the ends of the other blades. but they'll be able to tell you if it can be salvaged.
There are a couple things you should pay attention to. I have the resonator and silencer that comes with it. Also mine came from a MKIV and modded it to fit the sc. It's a 3.5" and steps up to 4 from the axle back. You need them 2 to get that sound othewise it will sound quite raspy.
Just an FYI
here's how mine sounds. I did not know I was being filmed until later otherwise I would of gunned it from the light, enjoy:

It's the pink wire..... I have a jzz30 ecu and my spd cut intercepts the pink wire.
If you cut it you'll get a CEL. Best thing to do is put a spd cut and you'll happier than a pig in mud....
My turbo is a .68 a/r and I dyno'd it with a blitz ecu rev it out to 8k and it never died.....
So In my opinion that too is a myth.
you want proof I got the sheet to prove it!
OH and another thing. Lag is only really a problem in 1st gear.
