I went to another shop in Santa Ana.. He had the specs on his comp but instead of waiting for him to look them up i simply gave them to him and he measured the head in front of me! It came out to 115.51mm and I told him that if it's past .020" that it can't be surfaced anymore! The thing I...
Took my head to get measured today... well it turns out that it has had .50 mm or 20 thousandths taken off so idk what to do now... cuz as far as i know it needs a really good surface to go with metal HG's! So I guess it's time to start looking for a new head :( this sucks cuz I was hoping to...
Ya gaskets are a given, the best part of the rebuild is that I finally get to fix my oil and tranny leaks =]
I just wanna know stuff that might not pop into someones head that hasn't rebuilt a 7m before!
I think I might need to replace my clutch soon too, I'll post pic later to see what you...
Ok, you guys have been a great amount of help, and I can't thank you enough! As I get farther into my build I find out that there is a lot I don't know about the supra! When I bought this car I was constantly told how much easier it is to work on then my other car (90' 300zxTT)! I am finding...
Also, does anyone know how much material can be taken off from the head before its bad. I wanna know that if you max out the material you take off the head if you can still remove material from the block!
Hmm, I thought that have the cylinders bored would make the combustion chamber larger, but now that I think about it when the piston hit TDC the combustion chamber is the same, so it makes sense!
Thank you sir! You are good peoples :]
Also I read that changing piston size affects compression ratio, I assume it makes the ratio lower right as I'm going .5 over right?
If so how much does this change the ratio, it shouldn't be a big deal anyways if memory serves me correct because lower...
When I was going to UTI they were telling us that you can convert open diffs. to LSDs! I believe you have to add some clutch disks on the side gears and used the proper fluids. Idk if anyone has done this for the supra but it would be nice to here about it!
Ok, there is more I need to know :)
I'm on my gf's comp so I don't have the TSRM on me... I called the machine shop and asked if they would be able to tell me what I need done and what size HG to go with after they do the inspection. They told me that I need the specs for the head and block...
Ok, sorry it's been a long day... I don't want to seem annoying! I really appreciate the help, now lets just hope that the machine shop knows what they are doing!
I guess I'll take it to a shop, hopefully they can tell me what to do and I hope it's not to expensive, as I am already over my budget!
If anyone can help me on deciding what size HG that would also be great :)
Ok so I was in the process of tearing down the block so I can have a bore/hone done to the cylinders! Well after hours of work I finally get the pistons and crankshaft out. Well my little brother had a hammer in his hands and dropped it on the block surface! So my question is what should I do...
Im pulling the motor and trans together right now! My friend misplaced the two brackets that go from the trans to the block, can I pull them out without the brackets on. I don't know if the 4 bolts that hold the trans and block together are strong enough! Thanks in advance!
