the parts are interchangable, but 89+ they started using different connectors on the wire harnesses. you should be able to swap connectors.

not egr. egr has nothing to do with oil. thats one of the emmissions systems. pvc system or leaky valve covers most likely for the oil. ive heard the light failure box fails itself and the light failure light will come on ever if all lights work.
