What did you want to be when you were a kid?

I wanted to go to the Air Force Academy and be a fighter pilot, become a minister, or be a teacher. I attended the Academy, didn't become a pilot, am currently a minister, and am working on my math teaching credential. 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

    No IDLE

The airbox or the accordion hose? If it's the hose then yes, you can just replace it with a pipe. However, you will lose the resonator which has proven benefits. How did your exhaust pipe melt a hole in your intake?

    Idle and Hesitation issues.....

Did you just add a cone filter or did you replace the piping too? Just the filter should not cause any problems. If you replaced the piping check to make sure all your clamps are tight and you don't have any vacuum leaks.

Is the battery charged? Check to make sure the connectors at the battery are clean and that the main ground to the block is clean and secure. You shouldn't lose anything electrical when switching batteries. Did you change any fuses when you were checkinh them?

If it doesn't open and close when power is applied to it, it's almost certainly bad.

Burning oil and smoking after fresh rebuild!

Did it start smoking as soon as you started driving it or did it start smoking as you put miles on it? If it has always done it I would suspect an incorrectly installed valve stem seal. If it built up over time then maybe poorly seated rings. A compression test should tell you if your rings...

Matt's break it 'til it works thread

No I was going downhill. A steep hill. So the plan is to rebuild and build up the GTE over the next 6 months to a year then swap it into the MKIII. I've been bouncing ideas around about what to do with it but nothing is set yet. So far the likely candidates are: 57 trim CT26, BIC...

    Need help asap!!

Check for voltage at the high tension wire. If the ignitor and coil appear to be functioning but you have no spark then the wire, cap, and rotor are suspect.

Matt's break it 'til it works thread

And the forgotten thread returns! While my trusty MKII has been my daily driver for quite some time now, my MKIII has been faced with the dreaded Kalifornia smog. While I have been preparing my modded NA to pass the visual inspection, it passes the sniffer test just fine, I still troll the...
