Eh, it wasn't that bad. Made for a good laugh though. ;)
On to reassembly and laptop tuning...just make sure you don't blow the welds on the intake.
I don't think there would have been any real arcing though, being only 12 volts and all. It probably started as a tenuous contact and...
Whoa! What happened dude? Everything seemed pretty good when you got it started. I remember it was idling pretty rich (like 12.8:1 ?) and you still had to configure everything and then move on to tuning but none of what you are seeing now. :dunno:
...and not to mention the tiny little shaft caught in the middle.
Go for it dude! Take lot's of pics. Before and after please. Failure analysis is always educational.
You pretty much need a DS (and the rest of the parts needed for an auto to manual swap) from an R154 car. If you find a stock one it will likely have a worn carrier bearing. From there you have a couple of options: Buy a new carrier bearing assembly and have it installed or have it made into...
The engine is factory blue printed. It's more than just the bearings. :icon_conf
Have the rods checked for cracks (mag particle) and if they are good see if they can remove the major stress risers. Shot peening is pretty neat too but I don't think it's required here.
I would also...
Yes, they are shielded high tension cables. The resistance is much higher than actual wires, which are intended to be low resistance. Using wire conductors to fire spark plugs would result in transmission of RF (radio frequency) and pretty much jamming any other RF signals (ie radio signals)...
What gets my attention is the 100+ in the wet...not too smart...oh wait, I almost forgot the centralia meet...:evil2:
Car looks good though empera. Why paint the trim?
I have mine installed just under the intake manifold. I think I have a pretty good plumbing set up as well.
The accordian hose port is tied to the TB port on the outlet side of the CC, with a check valve on the TB line to keep boost out of the PCV system. The valve covers, of course...
I'm kind of in the same boat but mostly just on decel. I went from a ct that I knew was on the way out the door to one that has quite a few miles (120K) and more shaft play than I thought I would get. Anyway, I still get smoke on decel but not as much as with the other turbo.
I would like...
Yeah, americanjebus was my passenger and got a pretty close view of it when I juked to the left shoulder. The white MKIV with gold wheels (mocha?) was in front of me. He got on the brakes hard, dodged right and hey, what's a chair doing on the road? I'm am amazed there wasn't an accident...
Definitely a good meet! I really wasn't expecting it to be worth the drive with the poor weather forecast but it turned out pretty good. 'It' being the meet, the weather mostly just sucked (at least the pass was snow free).
I could type out a full report on the days events but I'll just...
