SOrry to hear you keep having far too much fun Doat. Eventually it will be right : ) I (luckily) have never had to do that repair...
On a different note, I have to share my feelings regarding Jack Transmission who rebuilt my R154.
I have the trans installed and am running it. Initially we...
I had exact issue. Was a pinhole leak in the gas tank. The tank has a protector on the front of it that hold gravel and presses it (and water) against the tank. So over time the rocks grind on the tank with vibration and the water "rusts" the area (at least that's what I found on my tank).
I...
I have read a bit about cams and head porting. From what I understand all I really need is a mild porting on the exhaust cams to reach 500 reliably. The cams are a bit more confusing because I have heard about idle issues with the 264's (I think I got that number right) and a lot of raves about...
The head currently is 100% stock. The spark plugs are also unchanged from OEM style (NGK Copper, not sure of number... It's on a bill somewhere).
Running on the fuel I have right now is why I am staying around the 400 rwhp mark. I figure that if I stay this low (it's only 12 psi) for this...
Just to outline it a little better. My whole worry is that the stock coil setup with stock plugs and the engine running stock cams will have issues with a 91 Octane fuel. If the timing is bang on, I should be okay, but if I start getting a wonky spark, I foresee issues with the pistons.
Will...
Okay.. First... where the engine is at (some of you will know this)
Rebuilt 7MGTE Shortblock with Wiseco Pistons, polished rods and crank
Rebuilt Head (no porting, stock cams)
1.2 Cometic MLS Headgasket with ARP Studs
1000 cc ID Injectors
HKS EVC-S Boost Controller

With my current wheels (8" front) I find I stand on the road dips. You can feel it in the steering... with a 275? Didn't even think you could fit that on the car and still turn.. lol.
The 500 rwhp mark is almost the limit with pump gas and on a stock ignition setup. You need a lot if reliability to hit that or risk the engine. My opinion of course, but I feel safer for engine longevity at 400-450 with pump gas.
Of course if everything is geared for reaching that goal it can...
You should be able to run 275 with that offset on the rear. I'm not a fan of higher than 235 width on the from. Best tire width for front IMO is 225. A 10" rim isn't much fun on roads but it depends on what your plans are and what rubber you want to run. You could rub on a full turn depending on...
I wondered because I noticed that weld seams look more prone to rust, especially if exposed. Always wondered if that was metallurgical or just poor welding.
Simple curiousity.. When welding like that how much more susceptible to rust are the welds. I'm not a welder bit have heard there is a proper way of welding to reduce rust afterwards, but is it still more prone?
Just wondering because I have a few panels that have been replaced.
I have had a...
The thermostat is generally used to allow your engine to get to proper operating temperature quicker. It's kind of important... Because in certain cases it will never reach proper operating temperature which is where the engine functions optimally. It won't cause an overheat situation unless...
Lol, I know that :)
From BPU to here has been a 4 year journey. I find once your comfortable controlling a car at a certain power level... It's time to upgrade.
Next is wheels that can hold the power, a new diff, and interior. (Leather)
We want to run the engine at this power level until next year, see how well it holds up and get me used to the power. It's not the same as what I'm used to, scary things happen when your breaking traction under boost in...
Yes, talking to RCTS regarding this and basically because a. I am driving on city streets only and b. I want the engine to last, that going any higher is where the risk starts coming in. I asked for as much power as I could get safely.
They are fairly certain we could squeeze over 520 rwhp out...
