I may actually make it, too. Jack Transmission is buying a R154 core and building it Stage 3, then shipping it to me to swap for mine. Hoping that happens soon... But it means my car will be down one day instead of two months.
Great company... I complained a little about the rebuild of mine...
Don't get me wrong, the new "whatever Supra" would probably be far better handling and is definitely a sharp looking car. It has none of the Mk3 flaws etc...
I just like driving the mk3... All it's warts and everything.
The only places I have seen them is Arizona and Texas... Haven't seen antsy quarters for sale in probably 3 years now. I gave up... But I would pay up to 2k for a clean rear cut if it existed... Lol.
Hopefully you have better luck than I did.
We sometimes forget how very few of our cars were...
Mkiii quarter panels don't exist. Occasionally you can find a shell to cut them from, but i have looked for 6 years and can't find any mine were hand built. Usually it's also the outer wheel well being perforated that has to also be repaired. Mine cost a fortune to repair.
Sadly there are no...
Mine are 18 x 9.5 with 255's, +38 offset. (Rears) they fit fine. I'm just thinking your width would tuck them in nicely. Tucked in too far is relative to the viewer..
Are you planning to go 235 tires?
Shadow grey... The Supra unicorn.., :)
BBK... Don't go slotted..stay full patch, no slots, no holes.
That's a 1960 thing... Not a 2014 way to do brakes.
Im just wondering how well their "back room lab" actually proves anything. Logically speaking it doesn't make much sense. You would assume that no paint would be better...
However, when you really think about it.. why are radiators painted black normally? I always considered that cosmetic...
Just a note to dispel a myth... Cross drilled and slotted rotors perform worse and can possibly crack. They look cool, but the reasoning for them is flawed. You shouldn't have any issues unless you drive really hard but they are worse than full rotors and potentially unsafe.
For looks...
Tan is the rarest interior color. Hardest to find. Burgandy is the most hated color... Grey is most common and blue is a nice touch but not for a red car.
You can pick up a full interior for 300-1000 depending... You just get involved with other Supra owners near you and watch the classifieds. Also, I have bought and sold about 6 Mk3's to help fund the project. If you know what your looking for you can buy, fix and sell. I made a few thousand...
Only reuse hoses that aren't hardened and are in an easy spot to replace.
And for an engine stand try to get one with a wide stance instead of the one with the T (small bar with 2 wheels). The engine can flip in you with its long weight with those stands. They can be used though... Just make...
1. Your harness will be your first mission. Make sure it's right... If not, you will plagued by a whole flock of wtf's.
2. Go metal headgasket. As stated previously, the block and head have to be prepped properly. The block should have a .5 an smoothness (that number may be wrong... Going by...
Having a levelling bar on the chain helps a ton!
Also, make sure you grab toyota redline MT fluid for your trans (w58?).
All the plugs for the harness are available through Dr. Tweak now I believe. There are things you can do to improve the harness, although I'm not good so will keep quiet on...
There is. The gasket kit (OEM) exists and they give you new bolts as well if I recall. When you drop the tank, if it's dusty don't clean it. The dirt will show you where any leaks are.
You can do the full tube gasket with the tank on the car but it's a tad difficult to get at 2 of the bolts...
