You do not want to run a xxW-50 in this motor - that is unless you heavily modified the oil system to handle the thick oil. It does not flow well at all cold, even in a warm climate. If you want to know more, read Motor Oil 101 in my sig.

That comment is really uncalled for. Age has no bearing if a person has never handled a gun or understands how deadly a tool it is. It's a training/common sense issue, unfortunately one that is way too common now and days.

It was not the oil - that includes Mobil 1. What were you doing with the car after the oil change before the knock occurred? Any rapid accel/decel? High G turns? Did this motor have a HG failure in it's history, especially recent?

I shoot the Hornady 165 gr FTX in my .40 cal...the 10mm gets 180 gr Black Talons ;-)
