and the bump stops do make a difference. Steven89's bumpstops pretty much shredded up somehow and his RS*R Race springs which only lower the front 1.3" slammed him ride tucking the stock 16" wheels. Same springs on another car with good bumpstops the ride height returns to where its supposed to be.
Picked up a new OEM fan clutch today.
Pics speak for themselves its better to run a OEM clutch no matter the year over a Autozone, Advance Auto replacement.
This is a 88 OEM Turbo Clutch
I have a Tanabe SHM which is very similar to the HKS Dragger and i love it. If were to get something else it wouldve been the Dragger, SP, or RS*R GT II
Well first one i did i didnt tighten the screws down enough i shouldve used thread locker and seal sweller so it leaked. Second one works perfectly as it should and i sold that one to a buddy. Im about to buy a new OEM one so i can redo my first one again.
yeah i know how that is it sucks.
I swiped the o-ring with some oil to get it to stick in the grove itself. I did fill the lower half with oil but the o ring groove is on the ouside of that whole piece.
of course its where real men get work done
Well I decided to recondition the used fan clutch i bought from Rich @ SIP.
I armed myself with jetjocks instructions
Removed the extremely tight screws :: angry ::
I pried open the two halves
Drained the old silicone oil out
and got to cleaning...
Coolant: Cheap Shit (Toyota Red is going in soon)
Rear Diff: Mobil 1 75W-90
Tranny: Castrol Multi Import Vehicle ATF
Oil: GC 0W-30
Power Steering: No idea need to change
Brake/Clutch: No idea, flushing it out soon and putting Endless fluid in
Muffler Bearings: GReddy add 1000HP per bearing
So i take it the 89-92 Fan Clutches are the better cooling fan clutches of the bunch vs. the 87-88 7MGTE fan clutches? Now that i have the one that i have i wonder if its worthwhile to even rebuild it or to just bite the bullet and get a brand new fan clutch.
My Autozone replacement thats on my car right now is smaller than this clutch in the pictures. I was looking at every Supra Turbo at TX2K10 and they all had the same clutch posted in the pics. Except for the ones that bought a brand new clutch from Toyota. Like i said those were noticibly...
