This is ridiculous IMO, people are taking technology too far out of the box. I certainly don't mind getting pieces of paper covered in grease and grime, but a tiny, fragile, and expensive electronic device...idk about that.
Think of it this way...your working on your supra, which we all tend...
So the head for the 7M(not the engine build described in this thread) has been fully ported...and looks amazing! Forged pistons are on their way...machine work on the preping of the block has started and the stock rods are being polished. Assembly and swap of this replacement/mostly stock...
P A T I E N C E. Wait for the custom cometic. The smallest things can hurt you down the road. I overtq'd the head less than 8% over ARP specs and a year later I'm having to do it all over again. Save your money over the 2 months and buy your car something nice for letting it be patient haha.
I think the Mk3 will remain as it is to all of us here at supramania for at least 10 years; a car that we love to do what we want with and modify its performance to the high heavens. I think we aren't the crowd that is looking for people oooh'ing and ahhh'ing IMO, we are all very content with...
Ended up using a scraper and hammer and it just cracked off piece by piece...couldn't have been more straight forward. I think I'll be using Elemental Designs eDead v3 and their edead v4 teklite material.
Why would it be a big deal to mess up the paint on the metal, its going to be completely covered by the sound dampening coating anyway?
I'll be starting work on it tonight. I plan on getting up as much as I can by prying/scraping it off, then finishing with wire brushing using the air...
So don't use a heat gun just a big ass chisel and hammer, definitely sounds less messy. I think I'm gonna cut it into smaller pieces so it's more manageable. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to get started b/c I have beers to drink and the steelers to watch.
