I believe the wire from the e-brake is linked to the light on the dash and that is all. So when the e brake is on the timer will work, without any current running through the e-brake line to the light, the car will shut off. So I don't think grounding it will work, just follow the directions...

Make sure you hook up the wire to the e-brake wire, that happened to me! Without it, the thing wont idle after you turn it off. I'd hooked the wrong wire to the ebrake. good luck later

Your reaction time does not affect your ET. If you got a perfect light .000 your ET would still be 15.8. You try to beat the other guy off the line, when you go you trip the timer. Your reaction time is from when the light goes green til you clear the staging lights, then you time starts...
