Well I love all of the responses, what I hate though is when long time respectable members disagree...
So do I just go with ARP head and rod, drop the idea of the mains? It would save almost $200, if it is really a waste. But if I do swap them for ARPs sounds like it would not be a bad idea to...
Thanks for the input, I had another discussion with machinist, this time his son who works with him and who I originally spoke to... I think the dad is an old school small/big block V8 guy. His son seems very familiar with the 7M and understands what it is capable of and the kind of tolerances...
Ok my $.02 and my opinion,
I am not an expert or a veteran, but I would like to remind supraman317 to ask himself, is sound most important? Surely the purpose of a BOV is not to sound cool, although can be frosting on the cake:icon_wink It is to reduce wear on on the turbo by releasing the...
Thanks for the advice, I will order the other ARP bolts along with the Head ones that I had planned. I read the article and yes some good validations as far as making sure the plan is good for the goal.
My plan was to build for the 400hp range, but then run it at the 350hp... I am all about...
Thanks Tekdeus - I was planning to hover around the 400 mark also, will only be using a piggyback fuel controller, am not an expert at it, only advantage is I am in the electronic control industry both design and database programming etc... but once I am at that point would like to perhaps find...
I am sure this has been discussed, I have searched and heard differing opinions. I would appreciate some feedback from those who have done the typical external mods for longer term and have had success with stock internals. How many miles and how much boost.
My engine is being done from top...
Thanks for info, sorry I did try and search as I try not to post info that someone else has already asked... anyway that sounds logical...
SYTY1 let me know how much you want for it, I guess I should ask and make sure machine shop is not already buying one...
I will not use HG either way...
I am looking for a recommendation for a Full Gasket Set for the 7MGTE. Engine and Tranny are both going through a top to bottom rebuild, so the last thing I want is to have a leak as a result of cheap gaskets...
Thanks for the input
So on this subject, If I want to monitor air/fuel mixture, I need to use a 2nd sensor in a separate sensor hole? I am seen the SS elbows that have both OEM and 2nd for wide band... is there a way to add one to an elbow that does not have a 2nd hole... Thanks
Thanks for additional info, I will investigate keeping all in the cab and let you know how it all works out... will probably be a month or so, just pulling motor now, so have plenty of other work to do first...
Thanks!
Thank you for the input, yep makes sense after a little more investigation... looks like the Apexi ranges from low 300's to low 400's depending on who you buy it from...
Thanks again, I will add it to my list of items that need to be ordered...
That was my gut feeling, but thought I would see if anyone else had thoughts on it, the one I was first looking at using is the one below from AEM... Like you said, not a bad price and for sure is more flexible in its capabilities... If anyone thinks this is still the wrong way, for sure tell...
Has anyone heard of or used these fuel control boxes on a 7mgte? (see link at bottom) The seller has a 100% rating with 1260 items sold, most being vacuum kits I am sure, but never-the-less he has excellent record, but not sure if anyone has tried with this motor....
Planning to use with...
Thanks for posting the link, one night I took the time to print the entire manual off, but like I said it is in the car which is not at home...
Ok looks like I have some choices, if anyone else has tried to to such a thing, chime in and let me know how it went, but I am not looking for a lot of...
I am sorry to wear out the discussion on TEMS... but I have seen several posts while searching under "TEMS" that is feasible to manually command settings from Normal/Sport/Firm by creating a short between different sets of input connections to the TEMS controller.
So my question is, does...
Now that everyone is dieing to know lol... first of all the rusting issue, I would not personally re-use studs that had been in for very long, so the fact that when I removed the studs the threads came falling out with them on 3 of them.... anyway they were all new studs and the stud washer nuts...
I think once I have head off, I will post pics of the condition of the holes now and see if the helps determine best route... Again thanks for the input and advise based on your experiences...
Thanks for all of your insight, I will watch for a head between now and when it is time to take the head and block to machinist, if nothing reasonable is found I will take the route of time-sert, I had heard of them, but have had no experience with them, so I appreciate the info - for anyone...
