you NEED cherry picker. you have to be able to move the engine back as you go up. or maybe move the car itself back as you go up with your chain hoist. there is no way you can do it by yourself with what you have. i barrow one from my buddy that owns a shop in town. i wouldn't trust some cheap...
thats how i do it. you can see in the my little name picture thing. i do that because the engine is at angle x and you wan the car sorta opposite. it make for the most clearence.
there is a spot on the ds where it goes into the diff. and you can wedge a chisle or prybar to seperat the drive line from the diff. there are two of them on opposite sides. then just give it a little push with a jack underneath it. you have to remember its been on there for a while. it's not...
i have pulled and installed my motor by myself about 4 times now. it really isn't that hard. just jack up the back of the car high as possible so you have as all the clearence you can get.
i have pulled and installed the tranny by itself like 3 times while in car. definatly more of a bitch...
^word. i pulled out all the harness from my crashed car before i cut it up. the driver side front fender body one is a bitch. i could imagine how hard it would be with out the entire front of the car in pieces like mine was.
makes me gald i have my spare mint condition 90+ auto harness that came off my junkyard motor that has plugs for manaul or auto. even thought the one i'm running is in decent condition. i thought it was steep, but not that steep. dam.
if money is not a question then this should be over with. if you don't mind spending double the money then go for it. because they won't cost the "same".
we all know if we could we would. who doesn't want the supra god father motor.
why do you need someone else to make the decision for you...
buy that thing!
with some paint it could look pretty nice. i really like that interior without the lame mods. you can't go wrong with the price. the tranny and some other parts is worth $500.
there is no way you have rod knock. like what was said above that shit does not come and go.
on the night it happened to me i went out to a party and had been blowing off regular oil checks because i was new to owning a supra (used to mini truck 4x4's that just take abuse). on my way home i...
don't forget distilled water. its only a couple bucks and makes a HUGE difference with corrosion in the system.
and the guys at toyota just like any other car company did a TON of reseach to get everything on the entire engine to revolve around that 190 them stat. i wouldn't mess with it...
i wanna hear the noise.
even though its most likely rod kock we can't all assume it is. for those of us that have had it before a video would be all we need. after driving for 3 month on my rod kock motor i don't think i'll ever forget the noise. LOL
note: i got a junkyard motor from...
no shit.
i was just showing him that there are better deals out there. where did i say he should buy that car? anyway if you don't think thats a good deal, but you'll consider that other pile. great advise.
i have own 2 89 turbos.
the first one had stock tems suspension in excellent shape. i thought it was cool.
then my new car has tokico illumina II's with eibachs. with out tems working.
all i can say is the way my car is it handles way better than the tems did even when it was maxed...
