that's why I'm switching to a 90+ panel on my 89...
the dimmer switch is moved to where the rear window defroster went (which moves one slot to the left, next to the fog switch), and the lower panel overlaps where the old panel used to be, looks more complete in my eyes..

they're pre 89's as the black part of the signals is much thicker, and the whole thing is way wider..
they won't bolt up to an 89+ unless you change the header panel support...
I still have an NA rear end on my converted 89..
I kept the W58, but what really makes a different gear-ratio wise is the differential
pre 89's had 3.91's and 89+ had 3.73's...
all NA's had 4.30's, whether open or LSD..
to be honest, the 4.30's makes the ratios too short, as my turbo...
