Were there really double platnium plugs in 88????

First of all, don't buy more Toyota piping. I made that mistake... it's horrendously expensive, and you can get much better stuff in steel. Check the vendors, I'm sure a bunch of them have piping sets for sale. As for clamps, nothing beats T-bolt clamps.

Hmm.... - Reverse fill line with water - Tighten bleeder - Aim line in the direction of previous owner - Heat line with torch until water boils - DUCK!!!

Were there really double platnium plugs in 88????

If you haven't changed anything else, I'd go straight for the turbo to IC pipe... never seen one from the 80s that isn't badly cracked by now.

    turbo lines, and odd gasket

Interesting... I wonder if mine had been pulled off, or if they changed 'em since '89. The one I pulled off my engine was different. It's just a mounting point for the J-tube, which is a restriction in the fuel return line that allows you enough fuel pressure to limp home if your FPR kicks off...

    turbo lines, and odd gasket

That thick piece isn't a gasket, it's an insulator. I've seen actual gaskets for it, but only in the aftermarket gasket kits, never found one from Toyota.

    Meaty tires picture thread

Anything is possible of course, however, I wouldn't rate it as likely. I bought them from a local tire shop that knows what they are doing, and I bought them in the summer, when it doesn't get that cold south of the Arctic circle.

    turbo lines, and odd gasket

Pictures would help a lot. Doesn't look there there is a stock gasket for that part - it's on this page: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/EPC/291420/catalog.aspx?F=2211&P=2 which means you should likely just seal it with some gasket maker.

    H4 HIDs hi/lo not switching

Agreed. I've had all that, and one of the solenoids that controls the low / high beam shield fry itself.

    Duane in Import Tuner

I suspect he means the one with Duane's coverAGE in it. It's not out here in Canada yet, we run a bit behind the USA.

    maft pro mounting location

Well, I mounted mine in the extra slot above the radio, so I pull it out when driving. But you just *had* to put switches there... ;)

    The Mistress

Until recently, I've been using old school amps, and for the price they can't be beat. The only concern is the usual wear and tear - and the fact that not everything purchased used off fleabay actually works.

Shouldn't even cost that. :) You've got the right idea - simple 4 channel amp, some basic 3.5" co-ax speakers for the rear seats, a nice set of 6.5" component separates for the front, RCA cables, speaker wire, and a remote wire. A set of the speaker pods for the 6.5" driver from KevinM or from...

Fixed the broken speaker. Of all things I didn't expect... turns out there was a fault in the speaker itself. Broken lead on the positive side. Easy to fix, once I *found* it.

how can you tell if you have ABS?

It also has a fancy plastic cover on the later years. Or maybe it's just deteriorated to nothingness on the prior years.

I'm also a fan of the soft dome tweeters, they aren't as harsh as the hard metallic ones, and JBL is one of the brands that still has those available at a decent price.

I'm a big fan of JBL, for mid price gear. Better than any of the Alpine gear I've used - well, except for the rebadged DynAudio stuff they had back in the 80/90s.
